In a dilemma on handicapping the game, Syracuse have struggled against Georgetown & Cincinnati's zone thus forcing them to shoot from the outside. However Syracuse 11th in the Big East in 3pt% made while Georgetown is #1 in defending it. Overall this means Syracuse will struggle scoring against this Hoyas defence.
Defensively, Otto Porter Jr has been big in this season meeting, touching Cuse for 43pts, 16 rebounds & 9 assists. Jim Boeheim is so long in the tooth, he refuse to adjust properly for Porter. Cuse ought to have their best defender play man-to-man against Porter and the other four in a zone but no adjustment forthcoming. That is not say that will keep Porter completely quiet [as Boeheim himself confessed: “He moves around a lot, he’s a very flexible player. He can play inside, he can play in the post, he can play on the wing. He’s one of the more difficult guys in the country, probably, to cover.”]. But something has to be done.
Defensively as a whole Villanova showed Hoyas's vulnerability to the press as they turned it over 22 times, but again don't think coach JB is going to be making such drastic changes to his defensive system. Overall Hoyas are more flexible and can play man-to-man or zone thus they can make adjustment if needed.
Then you get to the double revenge angle with the last loss being really bad, surely some sort of reaction is to be expected from such a big school.
The key question for me is should reliance be placed in this spot? & why. fundamental aspect or bad double revenge
