Wednesday's interesting matchup: Iowa vs. Wichita State
In Cancun. Wonder what the line will be. Hawks return a lot of players from last season's team and have added Gesell at the point and a 7-footer underneath. WSU was supposed to be in rebuilding mode, but they've already won at VCU.

    Thoughts on this one?

Going to keep riding Wich state until they lose. Iowa has had a pretty soft schedule so far so not sure what to make of them

Is Wichita State long this year? Iowa not overly athletic or big underneath. Their strengths are in the guardcourt (Marble and this Gesell kid) and Aaron White, who is kind of a 3/4 tweener.

hey NC. im an iowa guy and no a lot about this team. they can be so good, but at the same time so bad. truthfully depends on what team shows up. if iowa is underdog which it could be i will take iowa. Mccaffery is just so good of a coach.

Added to that, the hawks are very deep, can extend up to 10-12 players.

Geisell is a very good pg, VERY GOOD, can shoot, can do everything.
Marble is a pretty good scorer
Aaron white is a stud, good all around game, pretty athletic
McCabe, i hate this guy. but hes their hustler, gets all the extra stuff done.
Woodbury, is a beast in the making. very good rebounder, and will block some shots.

My bet is i no iowa has had a soft schedule but seems to me Coach McCaffery plays up and down to his competition. after back to back games, i will go with coaching and depth

        Iowa wins by 6

You're right re: their inconsistency. Does the team that got down 23 at home to Gardner-Webb show up, or the one that wound up winning that same game by 9?

Wichita State also has a 7 footer. They lost Stutz but still have Orupke.

ummm yea so Iowa is so underrated right now its rather strange, not gonna say pathetic or sad just interesting. Iowa has potential NBA prospects if they can develop.

they have a few. Adam Woodbury, 7 footer, was MVP at a lebron james camp this past year. Marble has some NBA potential. and very little chance is Geissel. Damn good and only a freshman, just dont no if hes athletic enough

Turns out taking the more battle tested team pays off in college hoops. Who would have thought.

Couldn't have predicted foul trouble from two of Iowas best players. No question Iowa is the better team.
