So why? All you conspiracy nuts out there, why? Why did Stern pick OKC to win tonight. Spurs have a much larger market, they would potential draw more money, and even if he wants OKC, why wouldn't he push it to a game 7? It doesn't make any sense. Oh yea it does, because I don't believe in the Stern stupid ass theory bullshit. I seriously want someone to explain to me, if David Stern calls all the shots, why would he not want the Spurs to win, or at least go to a game 7?

Because OKC has a long road ahead in becoming a bigger franchise, the Spurs are an old team that are winding down. They're not that cool, more mathematic.

Because this is a future dynasty with much more marketing potential and Kevin Durant will surpass LBJ in a very short time frame.

NBA has been fixed for many years moron good god even half the refs admit it. Look at tonight how the refs reffed the game in the second half. God damn some people are so ignorant. You don't think the NBA wants a Heat vs Thunder finals you are crazy. Go ahead put big money on Boston tomorrow.

Probably because the Thunder are a new franchise that is in a region with almost no other pro sports teams and he realizes this team's success and popularity will dominate that market for decades to come?

If you're a believer in rigs/fixes....you will pound the shit out of Miami tomorrow.

NBA desperately needs to save itself from Celtics making it to the finals. Stern is 2 games away from having the 2 best players in the league play in a highly anticipated finals.

I usually never look into fixes/rigs, but man if there was ever a time for it to happen, I think its in game 6 at Boston. And I get a feeling it's going to happen...NBA has too much to lose if Heat don't make it.

what other league would put a referee in a deciding game in the playoffs, that has had nothing but hate for them in the past?

Donaghy's book has toned down the fixing compared to the past, though.

It's actually set up perfectly now, can you imagine the storylines for Celtics-Thunder?

The new "young guns" against the old veterans going at it for the last time

The new franchise with no titles vs. the one's with the most

Yea I fully intend on betting on Boston. You guys are crazy if you think the NBA is rigged. And no, all the refs don't say that. One occasion in the past 20 years of NBA, a ref accused the league of pressuring them to make calls favoring the Lakers (in the lakers vs Kings series in 2002) and that allegation was found to possibly have SOME basis of truth to it. I believe that the refs in that game were told to make calls favoring LA. I believe the Ref that came forward, However it just goes to show how hard it would be to be fixing games and have no coaches, no players (the most competitive individuals in the world!!), no refs, no office officials, no announcers, no witness period ever come forward and say something. How could Stern have that much power?

I agree with this. So even if the league is rigged, why not want both teams who were down 2 to nothing in the series, come roaring back to make it to the finals to face eachother. One team being young and gun with one of the potential best players in the world on it (Durant) versus a team that is made of older champions who were playing ball when Durant was in elementary school.

As far as storylines it doesn't matter anymore. OKC was all the NBA needed. OKC vs BOS is story from above (kids vs. vets, no championships vs heaps of them) OR: OKC vs MIA (lebron vs durant, MVP race all season, enough said)

The NBA got what they wanted, whether it was rigged or not. They don't care what happens tomorrow now!

Why no game 7? Here's another conspiracy for ya: they need to wrap this season up. There's no time left for game 7's anymore if they want the finals to be over around the same date as usual. Game 5's determined who was going to win their series 4-2. Then the west defeats the east 4-1 with the final game on Sunday June 17th. Nice and clean, this weird shortened season has no effect on next season.

I'll be taking Boston ML game 6 for starters to test this.
