    Why Do Coaches......
Why do coaches like to milk the clock and isolate when there is less than 5 minutes left in the game? Heat scored 2 points in OT, that's embarrassing. All the Heat did was walk the ball up, begin to isolate with about ten on the shot clock, and then put up a contested jumpshot up against the shot clock. Why not run your normal offense?

Never understood why coaches have their team milk the clock with 5 minutes left in a close game. Makes no sense to me. Maybe someone can explain it to me. Apparently it is good to become stagnant and throw up shots with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

The main reason is that they do not want to run a play, which would involve passing that could result in a turnover. So instead the take the safe route by running an isolation, which the player can shoot from or make one pass to an open player.
