I kept hearing Memphis was a lot better team this year. Obviously they aren't.
Like I've been saying, their bench isn't as deep as it was last year.
The better team won this series.

I can't believe people thought this team had 'championship aspirations'. Couldn't even beat a banged up Clippers team

For some reason people thought getting Rudy Gay back was better for the team than losing three solid players off the bench.

Looking back on the Grizzlies season, I would say the biggest factor that kept them from being more competitive was Randolph missing so many games. His absence, and Haddadi not being available for much of the season forced Gasol to play a lot of minutes early, wearing him down. Randolph just wasnt ready for the playoffs, as he wasn't even starting down the stretch for Memphis.
Fast forward to the playoffs, and we saw Gasol and Randolph under-performing early in the series, and the Grizz suffering because of it. They're so dependent on aggressive play in the paint to win games, and Gay just can't win a series by himself

Like some poster said: That's what they get for shaving points during regular season.

I think you are being way too hard on Memphis. They are a very very good team. In the last month of the regular season they were 13-3 and beat OKC, MIA, and LAC. In this playoff series they had three losses by a total of 6 points. They choked away game 7 and now you all condemn them as terrible and overrated. Not true.

Randolph isn't the same play he was last year.
Rudy Gay was way too much of a ballhog and it might be in Memphis' best interest to part ways with either Z-bo or Gay. I don't see any point in keeping a guy like Randolph who is past his prime but Gay is not the answer either. Came up very small today and in this series overall.

I'm still pretty shocked that the Grizz aren't in the 2nd round. Main difference between this year and last year for the Grizz is that last year they ran their offense through Randolph and Gasol. This year they had a more perimeter oriented offense that revolved around Gay and Conley.

OJ Mayo takes way too many shots for someone who shot about 20% in this series. Don't understand why Hollins kept doing that offense-defense subbing when Mayo kept shooting them out of games, his presence hampered the offense if anything. Horrible coaching.

Actually I said this before the series whenever everyone was saying Memphis was dangerous but thanks.
