explain what Bynum was doing staruing into space

Lakers are in a timeout, everyone is huddling up listening to the coach while Bynum sits outside of the hundle staring into space.

I'm watching Bynum's interview on TNT right now. Is it me or does this guy act and talk a lot like Metta World Peace? Metta rubbing off on his players.
