Don't Understand Why People do 5-point Teasers?

Doesn't make sense.

$100 parlay on Lakers and Bulls ML tonight pays $90

$100 on a 5 point teaser pays $86 and gives you Bulls -1.5 and Lakers -.5

Just wondering where the value is in these things or is it just a case by case basis?

I had a perfect situation for one several weeks ago. I did a two team 6 point teaser for Baylor -2 and Louisville +5, as long as Baylor won I would do no worse than a push unless they won by exactly 1 point and I felt like if Louisville lost it would be very close. I won that one with ease but it was one of the best uses of a teaser I've ever had regardless. +5 is a lot when the games can easily be played in the 40s and 50s.

Teasers are usually a bad bet unless youre 80% confident of a teams ability to cover the teased line

he's not talking about all teasers, really. This is a specific situation. When you have teams favored by 5-6.5 or whatever, compare the teaser payout to a ML parlay payout.
