Regular season is always misleading. The champions are by no means the team playing 'amazing' basketball prior to playoffs and the reg season. Look at last year. Maybe 5% of the NBA viewers would've said Dallas would be crowned champions, because no1 saw them as a threat because every other team was playing much better. While 90% expected Miami to be champions.
Sure Spurs are one of the top contenders this season, but playoffs will be a whole different story. Having said that, I do like their chances of making out of the West - but the price on these futures has lost value and IMO no point in betting these now at such low odds.
