They were in solid position for the 2nd seed until they won 5 straight at home. Now they've moved to #3 and could drop to #4 with a win tonight. 1-4 is not a bad place to be but the dropoff at #5 is very significant. I think they get the memo that they need to lose 3 out of the next 4. They cannot win tonight as it would be devastating to their position. Absolutely cannot win...

Now of course the players could care less and they will play hard for their jobs but look for some weird rotations in this half and maybe even a coaching blunder or lack of timeouts. It will be subtle but the tank is in effect.

I cant understand this game so far...Hornets playing solid and focused, while Rockets being sloppy. This is like the deciding game for Rockets and whether or not they stay in the playoff race. You'd think they would run over this team.

This meaningless win drops them from 3 to 5 and now a chance of dropping to #8. Going from 4 to 5 just cost them 50% more balls and the drop from 5 to 6 as noted on the chart I posted is huge. There chances of a top 5 is basically fukked.

Maybe they're banking on their 1st round pick from the Twolves but this isn't the NFL. Stockpiling middle of the road picks mean nothing.

This years draft will come down to the top 4 maybe 5 players. Then there's a steep drop off. Do you want an elite player or a role player?
