kobe is chasing records, he's more concerned where he falls on all time scoring lists than he is with doing what's best for his team. Most selfish player in the last 50 years. Shaq shot 58% from the field, Jordan 50%, Kobe just 45%. Guy arguably has been surrounded with better talent later in his career than either Shaq or Jordan. Not once in 16 seasons has Kobe shot over 50% from the field.

That's why he isn't sitting out. He's not efficient enough to sit a few games out and still move up on the all times scoring list.
