    Basketball totals
Why is it a generally accepted practice in basketball to see 5-10 more points in the 2H than the first half in college but 5-10 less in the NBA? I know the generic answer is that coaches foul more later in games at the college level as a strategic move, but why? I've never understood the stark difference in cadence and expectation of a game to get to an end result.

Anyone have an explanation beyond that? Do officials call games differently? I don't know why, down 5-7 late, an NBA coach would have his players foul any less than a college one would to try and stop the clock to get back in a game.
