The official schedules have yet to change. The Heat’s, in fact, still lists five games in mid-December that can’t happen, with the league’s reset calling for a Dec. 25 restart (Heat at Mavericks) upon the confirmation of a collective-bargaining agreement.
But details are leaking out, the most-recent courtesy of New York Times NBA writer Howard Beck.
Among details offered at his Twitter account:
•On the compressed season: It will run Dec. 25-April 26. Teams will average 3.9 games per week, up from usual 3.5 per week. About two extra games per month.
•Teams will play 48 games in-conference (four fewer than usual) and 18 games out-of-conference. Thus, not all teams will visit all cities.
•Every team will play at least one back-to-back-to-back set (i.e. three straight nights), and up to three back-to-back-to-back sets during season.
•Also, every second-round playoff series will have at least one back-to-back set, to shorten the playoff time frame.
