Chicago Bulls center Omer Asik will miss the rest of the postseason because of a fractured left fibula, the Bulls confirmed Wednesday.
The injury occurred during Game 3 of the playoff series against the Miami Heat. The diagnosis was confirmed via MRI and CT scan before Game 4, but Asik still attempted to play on it.
The Bulls said Asik's injury will not require surgery and the recovery time is six weeks.
CSNChicago.com first confirmed the report of the fracture. Turkish basketball broadcaster Ismail Senol had tweeted that Asik would be sidelined for six to eight weeks because of an ankle injury.
Asik entered Game 4 with 55.2 seconds left in the first quarter, promptly fouled LeBron James and had James land on his leg in the process. Asik gingerly walked away, and then played only 58 seconds in the second quarter before retreating to the locker room for the night.
Asik's injury could affect his role with the Turkish national team this summer.
Big blow for Chicago.... and the Turkish national team. Gonna be hard to win with out Linguine
