Getting Tired Of This "DIRK" Talk
I think he's a great basketball player but everyone thinks he's unguardable?

There's no question as a defender you're going to get points scored on you... but it is manageable.

Here are a few rules to live by when guarding DIRK DIGGLER...

    1. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are you going to allow him to drive right or left from the post position. PERIOD. No excuses. Get your A$$ right in front of him and make him go through you.

    2. You are going to get scored on... but make him take jumpers, fades, one legs... whatever. Do NOT LET HIM DRIVE.

    3. Do not go for the up fake. Again, let him shoot over you. Hand in the face... I don't care (as the defender) if you jump or not. But get a hand in his face.

    4. Frustrate him. Once you make him one dimensional and he starts missing shots... he will get frustrated. He has showed this in the playoffs against Portland a few times.

The only way OKC is going to win this series is to put heat on dirk and make him swing the ball. If another Dallas player beats you... so be it. But don't let Diggler beat you.

A frustrated Drik = OKC WIN

        what a stupid post.
Ibaka played great D for most of the game in game 1 and look what happened.
May I ask what individual defender do you feel can efficiently shut down Dirk?

Dirk is a unique player because he's 6'11 & is a deadly shooter so it's hard to guard him. He fades away & shoots rainbows so his shot is unblockable.

Its not him driving that gets him to score it is the jumpers , the fades and the one legs so if you take this approach your helping him not hurting him ....

When he's hitting shots like this, he's extremely hard to guard. Think somebody like Noah, who will be really physical, is the best type of guy to put on him.

The only problem with your logic is that Dirk DOESN'T MISS SHOTS. If you relegate him to just taking jump shots he will still hit at a 55% + clip. I thought of that before I made my post about him.

Dare I say he is quickly becoming the Chuck Norris of basketball players.

dirk has never been a 55% shooter.

this is his best season ever, and he's hitting at a 52% clip.

the further away you are from the basket, the lower % shot you're taking.
