Maybe not the better team statswise. They had identical records this season and similar offensive and defensive rankings so you can't really claim either team was that much better than the other.

However, it should be obvious to anyone that's watched their playoff games up to this point that Dallas looks hungry and is playing their best ball of the season (minus that 4th quarter meltdown in Portland), whereas the Lakers are not playing their best right now. The competitive edge that they've had in the last two seasons is not there and you can see the frustration in their gameplay.

So Dallas isn't really the "better team", but I definitely think that they are the more motivated team.

True. For whatever reason, the Lakers don't look hungry at all. I've seen basically zero sense of urgency from them, save for one game against the Hornets.

I was addressing an earlier post asking if Lakers had ever lost back-to-back home playoff games under Jackson. Until last night, they had never started a series 0-2 at home, but they did lose back-to-back at home in Games 3-4 of a series vs. the Spurs.

Game 3 is legitimately do or die for the Lakers, so if ever we're going to see that sense of urgency in this series, it will be on Friday.
