    $40 to $1000..NEED HELP
Ok so my buddy and I have a friendly wager going on. If I turn $40 into $1000 before we go to Vegas (Aug 22) then he said he would pay for my flight. If not, then I pay for our hotel room instead of us splitting it which is no biggie because I already put it on my card, so its already paid for.

Problem is I'm not the best handicapper, nor do I really have the best money management skills to go about this task by myself. Basically im an noobie and need help deciding what to bet!

Are there some people on here who I should follow or can anyone give me some tips on how to go about this. It would be really nice not to pay for the roundtrip flight.

    Thanks for the suggestions/help

Have you seek into the greyhound bus line?

Buy 14 days in advance and save about half your money for air flight. Take that money and go all in on preseason NFL.

    LOL

Well money management will definitely have to go out the window (for the most part) here. I would normally suggest a unit to be no more than 2-3% of your starting bankroll, but seeing you are trying to increase your original bankroll by 2500%, I think your best bet is to try to make bigger bets in good spots.

BTW, which hotel are you staying at and how much did you put down? Flights to Vegas are normally relatively cheap. Kinda sounds like you got the bad end of this bet.

          Good luck though.

Flight is $389...Room for 4 nights is $519 total....So if I lose I pay a whopping $129 for his part...Ill try for that flight.

Rooms are cheap in Vegas. Flights out there cost more then the room itself. (Im flying from Michigan)

Where are you flying out of?

I'm planning another trip to Vegas as well. We were going to go for New Years or we were going to go in late August. (New Years is pretty expensive). Anyway, when my g/f and I went a year and a half ago plane tickets were about 240. Now they're close to 400.

Hotel rooms are cheap. It's the damn plane ticket that sucks.

I would suggest you try to hit a parlay, or try to hit 5 bets in a row going all in after each win. turning 40 into 1000 is difficult to do. It's like playing streak for the cash and you need to hit about 5 in a row going all in each time you win in order to accomplish it. Not impossible but one loss means you are out! GL dude.

when I go to the casino I usually bring a minimum of 1,000 with me to gamble with. 40 isn't enough to account for variance. You have to try to at least go all in twice to get a little bank roll under your belt.

You can stay for free at the Riviera if you call them and talk to them about that promo they are having now like show them a players card at another casino and they will give you a room for free. Have a partner do it for the second day and there you have it, an easy 2 nights free. Have 3 friends? Make it 3 nights.

$40 on the Bulls to win the NBA championship.

I could be wrong, the Lakers could win it again.

You aren't going to turn $40 into $1000 betting games. You have to find a prop that pays out huge or a big ML.

I think your best bet by far is to put $40 on OKC/CHI Finals Matchup, pays out 20/1. Chicago will play ATL 2nd round and OKC will play Memphis. Very easy wins for both of them. Lakers will play Dallas and Miami plays Boston, tougher matchups.

Like most have said parlays and prop bets that pay huge +odds are your best bet otherwise this is a tall task even for the most seasoned handicapper. SJ's recommendation to take the Bulls/Thunder isn't a bad idea because you'll still get positive $$$. Also, if you can get the Thunder to win the West still you should probably throw some down there as well.

One of the first things I would do is find out how much I need to earn each week/month until you leave and break it into chunks - this will, at the very least, make it appear to be more attainable. I'm going to guess that you'll have to double your BR at least every week initially or maybe every couple days.

It's far enough away that you don't need to blow you load in one shot but you have to be fairly aggressive in your plays regardless. If you're not very adept at this then you better hope someone on here catches fire as you'll have to hit both the rest of the playoffs and baseball. Also, check out Roags thread or find him on twitter...his soccer totals are almost free money and you guys have something in common except he's turning 500 into 5000...GL

Yea ive been following Roag with my regular bankroll. Gotta love those soccer overs!

I think if I get my bankroll to $200 from $40 I can start being more agrressive with my picks. I dont need to rush anything right now, afterall, I have 4 months to try and get to $1000.

                                  Is it attainable? Yes.
                                  Is it probable...Prob not
