Dennis Rodman to have his Jersey retired Friday in Detroit.
    When the Pistons play Bulls.

He, in my opinion, is one of the more underrated human beings/sports figures of my generation. Keep in mind I'm 24.

    5x NBA Champ
    2x NBA Defensive POY
    2x NBA All Star

The fact that he is not in the Hall of Fame, proves how irrelevant being in any Hall of Fame is.

    Others on my underrated list

    Charles Haley (DE/ 49ers & Cowboys)
-- 5x Super Champ, but like Rodman had character issues during playing days. Therefor he is not accepted by the status quo.

    Jim Nantz
    ( Sports-broadcaster)
--- Does three different sports(Golf, NFL, and NCAAB) well. Is not annoying, and is informative to the point that you make an effort to listen to his every word.

    Hubie Brown
    ( Retired-Coach, and sports-broadcaster)
--People for get that the one, and only time Grizzlies made it to the playoffs he was the coach.
--Listening to him commentate a NBA game is like going to the one class you enjoyed during high school. Super cool teacher.

Ice Cube ( Rapper, actor, director, owner of a production company for both movies, and music)
-- I dont know anyone with a career arch similar to Cube's. Was a key figure in a rap group that started a revolution, music wise. Had a stellar solo career. Consecutive hit movies, that were directed and produced himself. All this while keeping street credibility. I consider that a fairly difficult thing to do since Will Smith, while in blockbuster films, was making some pretty lame music.

Any thoughts on Rodman, and his career?

The Worm! 1 of the best hustle players ever. He always played with emotion and hard work. You forgot some of his most important achievements though. He wrestled for Hogans NWO and banged Madonna and Carmen Electra

I totally disagree. He won 3 rings with the bulls, 2 with Detroit. He was basically a direct replacement for Ho Grant and was a big part of the reason the Bulls stepped it up to 72 wins and the best record of all-time.

He also took the Spurs from being a very good team with David Robinson et al, to a great team and real title contender. He did all the little things that help a team win.

Also keep in mind that he was rebounding a good 30%-40% more than the other best rebounders in the league at the time. Barring Kevin Willis for a season or 2.

I don't think I've seen anyone else in my lifetime dominate one statistical category by as big of a percentage as he did with rebounding, in any sport. The only others that come to my mind outside of my lifetime, would be wilt with scoring and Babe Ruth with homeruns.

He was a rebounding machine. Dennis hopped around like an energizer bunny on crack grabbing rebounds.

Dennis deserves to be in the HOF 100%.

Being a DOY is a big thing, better don't give enough credit to those that play defense and don't contribute much offensively well those that play offensively and play virtually no defense will get the nod.
