Important Stat for Sixers Pistons game 2
In the previous seven losses at The Palace, the Pistons are a perfect 7-0 both SU and ATS. And get this -- they’ve won those seven encounters by an average of 19.3 PPG.

Sixers are probably just happy with the split

Just heard a quote from Chauncey Billups

He was asked "is this a must win?"

Chauncey said "No I am not trying to sound cocky but i think we would still comeback and win the series."

10 points given to a team that has played them tough all year and beat them 3 times seems a little much to me.

Not letting it scare me away...might have been a stupid tilt move after getting my ass handed to me today but I have already placed a unit on the Sixers.

starting to seem like the DAL/GS series from last year wherever assumed that DAL would just turn it around.

Even though PHIL isn't a great team, they have played DET well and beaten them 3/5, have confidence, and have shown they can win on the road. I mean what more do you want in backing thsi PHIL team?

My early analysis has me leaning toward Detroit in this one. Detroit was kinda caught off guard in the first game by taking that 12 point half-time lead for granted, plus Chauncey or Rip wasn't playing the way they are capable of. They got Philly's best shot, they clearly didn't play their best. Rasheed Will get his, and if any of the other big 3 has a good game, they should cover this game.

No way -- not even close. Why?

The regular season matchup between these two was split 2-2 -- One of Detroit's losses was by 1.

Last year, the regular season matchup between DAL/GS was a blowout -- GSW won all three games by 29, 17, and 3 points respectively, for an average of ~16 points. I call that a slaughter. I remember the first day the seeds were announced last year -- I went out and put money down on the Warriors to upset the Mavs (who had the MVP AND the best record in the league). Guess what happened? Slaughter -- it was very obvious from the Warriors total domination in the regular season. While the Sixers have been competitive, they aren't dominating the Pistons like the Warriors did to the Mavs. Nellie had the Mavs number last year -- Mo Cheeks? I don't think he has anyone's number.

Despite Chauncey being a little arrogant with that quote, I wholly believe him --

I agree with Buddy, this Pistons team dating back to last year against the Cavs is prone to being lackadaisacal in their approach. They might come out and put their foot on the Sixers' throats, but for 10.5 ... I'll take the team that has confidence and knows they can play with and beat Detroit.

Yeah, I think the Sixers will keep it close -- but really, -can- they hang with Detroit? I'm not so sure they'll win another game... they're just too young of a team. Besides, in the 4th quarter last game it really wasn't the Sixers who beat the Pistons...the Pistons beat themselves by missing a crapload of open looks and FTs that would have easily sealed the game by a few points. How often does Reggie Evans hit 19 foot fade away jumpshots? And clutch FTs? Take away Evans freak 6 points and the game is totally different...

That said, the Pistons do get bored and screw around way too much. I think taking the Sixers at around +10 tonight sounds good -- I laid some money down on it.

Most measures of team efficiency over the past few months point to this line being too high. There just isn’t enough results-based criteria to think there is that much disparity between the two teams.

actually....just like Dallas winning game 2 vs the Warriors last year I think the Pistons take this one and cover....then people would think all is good again..then Philly takes game 3 and possibly game 4....Philly is hungry ...Detroit is too cocky and Flip is not even liked by his own players....

Philly has dominated this series all season long covering every game and winning the last 3. I don't care playoffs or regular season. If you really look at the numbers between these two their is no numbers that points to Detroit. This Philly team has nothing to lose, just like Golden State had nothing to lose. And as far as the Billups comments, that is what is going to get them beat again in game 2. I would say it is a false confidence, forget about the ATS points, Detroit hasn't even been able to beat this team since the beginning of the season let alone cover a game with a double digit spread. Sorry, Billups you might want to shut your mouth before you are one and done. I am not saying Detroit can't win and cover but it is going to take more than Billups running off at the mouth to make me think that everything is okay. I thought what most other people thought going into this series. I had Detroit in game 1 but can't ignore Philly anymore. To me this Detroit team has too much confidence for their own good and I am not sure why because this is 2008 not the past couple of seasons. They still act like they are the best in the East and I am not even sure they are even in the top 2 anymore because I think the Cavs and the Celtics would beat them.

Ryan, i couldn't have said it better myself, i don't doubt if Pistons played a great game that they could cover this number but I haven't seen anything from them to make me believe just yet, especially since they are 0-5 in the last 5 playoff games.
