Anybody ever look at the +/- in NBA games? like hockey?

I was following the Knick and the heat games tonight via the NBA Companion and noticed that

Big Z was +9 while Lebron was -9

and

Renaldo Balkman was +12 while Carmelo was -14


IS this strange and is they anything odd about this?
