Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Saturday, 4/19/08
Starting Tuesday (April 1), we will start a new April Hoops Parlay Contest with a prize of $250 account at 5 Dimes, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 5 Dimes account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and game-by-game record (15 parlay minimum), there will be NO last place prize.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at 5 Dimes prior to making picks Sign up here

Before participating, players must PM their 5 Dimes account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading, no Money Lines or Halves allowed. NBA, NCAA Men's and beginning April 1, NCAA Women's games included.

    3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you are making your play. If need be, please refer to prior month's contests for examples.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per household and IP address.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

Washington +2 over Cleveland I think that balanced effort by Arenas, Jamison, Butler lead their team over the Lebrons...

Phoenix +4 I think that people are underestimating Spurs injuries, Manu is key to whole series, Shaq will shut down Duncan, I like Amare to go nuts on Olberto and the rest of the front line, statement game

NO -4.5-they were just playing around with Dallas the last time, CP3 will have his way this time at home.

Houston -1-Utah aren't very good when they're away from home.

rockets good at home and must respond with a strong effort to avoid the 0-7 talk for 1st rd mcgrady exits

703 Phoenix Suns +4 Suns won the season series 3-1 and already beat teh Spurs twice on their home court this year. Suns feel they have something to prove and the Spurs are without Horry to help out.

706 New Orleans Hornets -4½ Hornets playing at home and look to make a statement against another powerhouse. Hornets won both meetings on their home court...one by 11 points and the other by 4.

Cavs-Wizards U188: Defense steps up in the playoffs, and I don't trust Cleveland's lineup to regularly top 100.

Jazz-Rockets U187: Rinse, repeat. Houston is one of the best defensive teams in the league and will control the tempo. Lots of 24-second shot-clocks in this one.

                                  A couple of reasons.
Phoenix won 15 of their last 20 regular season games.
They also won the season series against the Spurs 3-1.

                                  HORNETS - 4.5
Though the season series between these two teams ended up a draw @ 2-2,
with ol' Paul happy (and) healthy, I give a slight nod towards the Hornets.

Cavs only playing .500 ball since the trade I think wash wins this series
                                      702 Clev/Wash Over 188
Teams play defense in the playoffs but I still figure these teams could hit 200

CAVALIERS -2: This is somewhat of a gift line considering that the Cavs are now -3.5 in real life. Cleveland plays defense, Washington does not. In the playoffs, that is what it comes down to.

WIZARDS/CAVALIERS UNDER 188: Cleveland playoff games averaged just 175.5 points in their drive to the NBA Finals last season. They should profit from the experience, knowing that defense wins championships. This is the third straight year they have faced the Wizards in the playoffs, and the teams played conservatively in Game 1 each of the last two seasons.

Phoenix & San Antonio 194 Over: sas would play defense to win but pho would like to win using their defense and offense and i don't think that even if sas gets blown away by the 4th qtr that sas would just give up.

Dallas +4.5: Dirk would like to redeem himself over what happened last year, Jason would like to prove that he is still a premier point guard and be able to somehow contain C.P. but in the end the experience of dallas and their desire would give them the edge.

Wash/Clev over 188 - Both offenses should fare pretty well int his series which should get this game over the number

Utah/Houston over 187 - Houston plays great D, but that seems to take a disproportionate hit against the better offenses, and Utah may have the best offense in the NBA and they play average D at best so that should get this over the number

Suns +4: Going to be a close game, Suns will either win straight up, lose in the last 10 seconds, or miss shots and foul and lose by 5 or 6. But I'll take the Suns with the points.

Jazz +1: Jazz win outright tonight even in Houston. Jazz are more balanced overall and I don't think the Rockets can keep up in the paint.

#704 S.A. -4 : the veterans get it done for the Spurs, the Spurs seem to step it up in the play-offs.

#708 Hou -1 : the Rockets D should help them get a win, Jazz still haven't proved they can be tough on the road.
