I couldn't find anything on this forum regarding NBA Futures so figured I'd start the thread. I'm trying to calculate if it's better to bet on it now (probably better odds) or wait until the playoffs start.
The West at this point seems to be a three way race between the Spurs, Lakers and Mavs. The Spurs and Lakers are both +130 to win the West and the Mavericks are at a very valued +475. Mavs are underrated in my opinion because of the games with Dirk out but before that record wise they were right with the Spurs.
I still feel like the Spurs have enough of an edge at this halfway point in the season(8 games on both the Spurs and Lakers) to assume they'll earn the 1st seed in the West. +130 for the Spurs is probably the best value you'll get.
Lakers are the most experienced team out there and have looked laxdaiscal (probably spelled horribly wrong, too lazy to use spellcheck) at various points this season. I think if the Spurs get the first seed, even with the multiple champions they'd be the favorite to win the West, so waiting on the Lakers if you like them could be the best move.
Mavericks at +475 is never going to get better unless Dirk gets murdered by a hitman.
The East seems to be a two way race between the beasts of the east, Celtics and Heat. Heat are favored to win slightly more at +105 and the Celtics are standing at +115. I think the Celtics are the better bet of the two front runners because they have more experience and have showed so far that they have the Heat's number. I am personally staying away from betting on the East because I could see either one win.
anyone else have any thoughts/leans on future NBA bets and whether now is a good time to invest in them
