Early Looks for Friday

Just took a quick look at the lines for Friday and the Mavs +6.5 and OVER 190 look great. Going now to sit down and cap this game out. Let me know what you guys think......

What? Look at their records, they are very close. Of course the home team should have the edge. Why are people acting like NY is an elite team, turn off freaking ESPN already.

Mavs line is interesting. They seem to be picking up their play but after watching their win in NY Dirk does not look healthy. Yeah he had a good game, but the KNicks dont know how to play defense. Dirks movement doesn't look good at all, not quick, hesitant, looks like the knee is either still bothering him or he is just scared to hurt it again. I think thats why the line is so high, Mavs showed they need him badly and with Bostons physical defense he could really struggle.

Im kinda worried that the total opened a few points from what I expected, so I think books are leaning Knicks.

Otherwise I think Philly wins by 10.

i also tought about taking dallas +6.5, but decided against it. dallas is kinda weak inside , dont think they can handle perk, shaq, baby and kg. ~6 points seem to be right, they arent that good like they used to be in the beginning of the season.
i like the under 190 tough especially if oneal is playing, both teams are elite defensive teams and boston plays a very slow paced game with oneal in the lineup.

Two 7 footers and one 6"11 is being weak inside? Tyson Chandler is playing the best game of his career possibly.

Chandler's playing really well, but I have to admit he's more a skinny athletic big man - he can do alright against similar guys (ie. amare), but have trouble with the big, strong, heavy big men (ie. dwight, perkins, shaq).

The Mavs are playing well over their winning streak, but I agree they're not quite the same yet. Losing Caron Butler for the season hurts big time too, as Marion just does not impress me.

If I had to choose, I'd go Mavs here at +6.5, but to be honest, this is a no play for me I think.

Other than they both have balanced teams shooting wise, their defense blows . Philly is rolling as of late (but I have failed to watch their recent games). New York is a bad road team and Philly took care of them in NY. I would bet the over on the game but...they fell so short the first time around and that was because the lack on NY's offense rather than philly and Ny being away is not going to help them score and Philly scoring 106 in the first meeting is a far from their 97.8 average. UGHHHHHHHHH F this game!!1

Chandler really not that skinny. He has bulked up a ton since coming into the NBA from high school, i think some people might still see him that way. He may not look huge but he is damn strong, i think he is a huge reason (along with the zone) Mavs defense is as good as it is this year and that includes him matching up against the occasional big and strong center in the nba.

Kidd will probably be on Ray, you're right Paul.

i want Portland to win on the road against indiana, but idk if they will. i think i'll put small wager on the +2.5, because Portland kicked spurs ass, and pacers struggled with cavs the other day. i'm no expert though.

i think that haywood and nowitzki are below average defenders, chandler seems okay for a starting center. imo butler was their best defender ( since his injury they give up an avg of 96.8 points ) .

Come on dude. Haywood is an above average defender. If he wasn't, he would not be in the NBA cause he sure as hell is not an above average offensive player.

Marion, Kidd, Stevens are all on the same level or better then Butler defensively. Butler was never known as a stopper anyway, not sure where you got that he is their best defender.

I think the Mavs game will be a statement game. They want to be considered among the elite teams in the NBA and what better way than to beat the most evil franchise in the NBA. Texas teams have fared well so far in Boston, SA lost 103-105 in early Jan. and HOU flat out dominated them. I think Garnett may have been out for the HOU game, but I also think HOU was b2b and it was Aaron Brooks' 1st game back or something. Instead of looking down low, I'm looking at Jason Terry to make an impact on tonights game. If he shoots well, I think the Mavs will win.

As for the Philly game, I'd lean Philly, but games where both teams don't play defense scares me. Either team can shoot 50% from the field and the variance seems kinda high...

Anyways, what do you guys think about ATL -7? I usually don't bet on big spreads like this but shouldn't the line be more like 9? Plus the public is usually pretty bad at picking underdogs and it seems a lot of money might be on the Clipshow?

I like Atlanta. If you wanna slow griffin down foul him he cant shoot free throws. Dont get me wrong he will get his points probly more than 20 but there team doesnt do enough offense without Gordon.
