NBA Best Bets: Friday March 28th, 2008

I am predicting what the spread will be on the 1st Q of these games. I will corrections in the morning after the 1st Q spreads come out.

Lakers played one of their worst offensive games of the season. The lakers scored only 20 points in the 1st Q against the warriors on Monday and only 24 points in the !st Q against the Bobcats. Look for the Lakers to score at least 35 in the first quarter. They scored 30 and 39 points in the first quarter in the other 2 matchups against Memphis this season.

Spurs are horrendous on offensive. They are coming off one of their better first quarters by scoring 27 against the defenseless clippers. I like Minnesota to play some good defense especially in the 1st Q. The Spurs have a tendency to score more points in the 2nd Q and most likely is because Ginoboli scores a lot coming off the bench. The Spurs have a hard time breaking 25 points in the 1st Q in lot of their games. I can remember them scoring only 5 or 6 points against the hawks in the 1st Q. In the 3 meetings with the twolves this season, the spurs have scored 22, 22, and 24 points in the 1st quarter of those games. Look for the Spurs to score in the low 20's in the 1st Q.

THe Suns and the 76ers love to run. Last time they met they combined to score 233 points. Look for these two teams to score 220+.

The Sonics are a poor offensive team with no team chemistry. Most games this season, the sonics are scoring in the low 20's. THeir average 1st quarter scoring is probably around 23 points. IN their only matchup this season against the bobcats, the sonics only scored 22 points in the first quarter. Of late, the bobcats are playing much better and especially on defense. Gerald Wallace is finally healthy for the first time this season. I would consistently bet on the under for the sonics for the rest of the season. U26 is a safe bet. Look for the sonics to score in the low 20's.

The Jazz are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot and a victory against the dormantless clippers will help. THis is a revenge game and watch for the jazz to build a early lead. The Jazz have led the clippers in all three meetings at the end of the 1st Q by at least 3 points. I jazz are tough at home and this is the clippers 3rd game in 4 days (all on the road).

I also like the Clippers U24 in the 1st Q. The Jazz do play good defense against teams like the clippers. The Clippers are a tired team and it doesn't help being in another time zone. I do not even think the clippers will hit 20 points in the 1st Q.
