Spurs @ Magic 12/23

I'm leaning towards taking the Spurs, for obvious reasons.

But at the same time, this new Orlando lineup is going to pickup a win sometime. Tomorrow could be it.

Orlando will be a very good team again once players gel together, but I think it will take more time.

I just don't see how they can gel quick enough to take on a team that has lost 3 games so far, and were at the Christmas break. I'm not huge on b2b tiredness when playing on national tv, I like the Spurs to at least keep this one at a buzzer beater

+3 is tempting for sure. I mean, if nothing else, it's an amazing value play on the best team in the league.

I'll think about it more tomorrow, but odds are I end up going with the Spurs

Spurs are due for a loss but I just don't trust the Magic right now, Spurs or no play for me.

The Spurs enter this game on a ten game win streak facing the Orlando Magic who have lost eight of their last nine games. Orlando has only scored over 100 points once in their last nine games and are facing one of the league's most efficient and high scoring teams in the Spurs, who are averaging 105 PPG on the road.

The Magic's new acquisitions Jason Richardson, Gilbert Arenas and Hedo Turkoglu are still adapting to the system of Stan Van Gundy and the minutes and rotations that Van Gundy has decided to roll with. Orlando is also struggling with depth now that they lack a true back up center, often being forced to play the undersized Brandon Bass at the 5 position. All three of the Magic's new players are not especially effective defensively and this could present a real problem against such an efficient offensive group as the Spurs. Couple this with Orlando's struggling ability to score and this game could be trouble for the Magic.

Orlando is 4-6 SU vs the West this season, having beaten the Clippers, Timberwolves, Suns and Grizzlies, all of which are sub .500 teams. They have lost to Utah twice, Dallas, San Antonio, Portland, and Denver, all of which are Western Conference playoff teams.

San Antonio is 5-0 ATS as an underdog, 7-2 ATS in road games, 6-1 ATS vs the East, and 9-2 ATS against .500 or better teams.

The Magic are 3-8 ATS against .500 or better teams, 5-9 ATS against teams averaging more than 99 PPG, 2-5 ATS revenging loss vs an opponent, and 0-7 ATS coming off of an upset loss as a favorite.

San Antonio has only been an underdog by more than 2 points twice this season, once on the road at Oklahoma City and once at Utah. The lines in both of these games were +2.5 for San Antonio and in both games the Spurs won by double digits.

Orlando is struggling as a team at the moment and is still developing chemistry between their new players. We also know they are struggling to score and are playing one of the top offensive teams in the league, as well as a solid defensive unit. There is also some concern that the players and coach Stan Van Gundy have been growing apart and the team is becoming frustrated with his coaching.

San Antonio enters with the best record in the league, perfect chemistry and probably their best team in years. I do not see the Spurs wanting to go into their Christmas break with a loss and expect them to come into this game just as the Mavericks did and control the game.

Spurs are going to loose sooner or later..they are on b2b and Magic need a win muuuuch more than Spurs..that new Magic team gave a lot of effort in Dallas game to take that win but couldn't make it..I guess they will do it tonight..

Despite their record, I'm still not sold on the Spurs. I know they're a better team than today's Magic but I think the Magic will put in more effort than the Spurs here and get a needed W to the admiration of the home crowd.

how you could possibly take orlando as a favorite vs the spurs who have lost 3 games all year is ridiculous. spurs should be -3 and they are not, orlando is unravelling faster than lang's bankroll. if you place even one dollar on orlando you are guessing and praying the due theory is in your pocket somewhere. this means orlando will win easy tonight of course.
