Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Thursday, 3/13/08
Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

    1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

    3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

    6. And here’s the fine print:
    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per household and IP address.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
    • Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

Wrigley might as well start lining his 22" screens up...

Fla State/Wake Over 137: went with BOT on this one, line looked low earlier and kept dropping all day...lets hope for an up and down game with lots of 3s.

UCONN -2.5: UCONN has been so up and down they make me nervous here but they should pull thorugh right? I think free throws make this cover by 4-5 pts.

Oklahoma St. -3.5 Pat Knight's first tourney game, Okie St. is the better team.

UNLV -13.5UNLV can't afford to play around in this game, losing this would pop their bubble.

Penn St +8 - Penn St's young guys are quick and have an energy to them that I think will keep them in this game throughout.

So Miss/Central Fla under 133.5 - This number doesn't leave much of a cushion, but these two teams went to under 100 in the regular season, and I think they'll play a low-scoring D-oriented game here and the total score will be low.

Allright took a couple of days off to get off my terrible streak and now its time to make my winning streak to the end of the month.

Suns/warriors over 236 -- They have gone over this the last two times they met and I think they go over again.

Golden state +6 -- They have won the last two and I dont like the suns right now so I think they cover this easy and may even win.

COLORADO +8.5: Since Colorado has a reputation of being good at home and bad on the road, the oddsmakers did a good job of balancing the books this season. The Buffaloes were actually 9-4 ATS on the road and just 5-8 ATS at home! Look for that to continue with this rather large spot.

ARIZONA STATE/USC UNDER 124.5: These teams comboned for just 120 when they played at USC this year, and I look for the Sun Devils to slow things down again in an attempt to take the partisan crowd out of the game.

Sacramento -2.5. Portland is on a long road trip, while Sacramento got off the schneid -- snide -- schnide -- skid, by beating the Lakers.

Washington -2.5. Because I've gone 11-18 betting Cleveland this year, and Wiz have played them tough 2 of three meetings this season.

Northwestern vs. Minnesota OVER 125: Minnesota loves playing against Northwestern. In the two games that Minnesota played them this year, they averaged 87 ppg, and gave up 67.5 ppg. Although this is on a neutral court, I think Minnesota will put up a lot of points especially with this spread at -9. Minnesota should win 76-61.

New Mexico State -19: NM State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games. They have handled Idaho both meetings this year winning by 10 @ Idaho, and by 39 @ New Mexico State. New Mexico State has also been playing great the past two games, beating San Jose State by 23, and Hawaii by 35. Idaho can't score enough points to stay with NM State.

                                                  Cleveland +2 1/2

Washington can't beat a team with a winning record other than the Hornets. I really don't see LeBron losing back to back games against teams with losing records.

                                                  Cleveland/Washington Over 193 1/2

Cleveland has allowed 50%+ shooting in 3 of their last 4 away games (including the Knicks). Washington has been on the over 4 games in a row, and 5 of the last 6 home games. Cleveland has been on the over 4 of the last 5 road games.

I like the history on this matchup.....NEV by double digits!

Also don't care about the "free" pick taking FSU for the upset.

Lately, after their bracket-buster debacle in Carbondale, Nevada closed the season with three double-digit wins. The last was a 13-point win over Fresno State in Fresno. In that game, Nevada outrebounded Fresno State 47-38, and held them to 33.3% shooting. Going back two years, Nevada has beat Fresno State by double digits in all 5 matchups. Coach Fox and his crew will handle the Bulldogs again tonight.

Their only two home losses have been to good major-conference teams, Louisville and Arizona. They beat TCU by 12 away and 19 home. UNLV's defense is too stout for TCU.
