I play player props often, and have been very successful. In my opinion, the better the prop LOOKS, the less it's likely to hit. You gotta do more research, situation stats, injuries, etc. I've been betting Amare Stoudamire over ANYTHING the last 2 weeks, and hit every one, even though the number has been going up. it was over 38.5 pts+rebounds, which is phenomenally high, yet it still hit. If it's in that range against boston on wednesday though, I'm taking the under.

Tonight, I have Dirk Nowitzki over 23.5 pts. It's a high number, but they'll need to put up 90-100 to beat the Jazz.

Lots of people only go for the star players and overs. To me you may find more value in random role players returning home (overs) or in the coach's doghouse (unders). Also, if you look at the spreads/totals of the game you can more closely estimate how many points they're expected to score. Don't bet Kobe over 30 points or something if their game total is set at 190.
