Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Saturday, 3/8/08
Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Saturday (Mar 1) we will commence with the March Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

    1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

    3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

    6. And here’s the fine print:
    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per household and IP address.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
    • Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

Kansas -4.5 Revenge. Texas A&M is very inconsistent and is unlikely to repeat their performance earlier in the year.

UNLV -7 Another case of revenge, UNLV was absolutely flat @Utah, this should not be the case in their home finale.

My best bet is the early game so I gotta get it in.

Cleveland -8Cleveland is at home against a weak indi team. Look for cleveland to light up the board here

Houston -7 Houston has been on a roll winning 19 losing 1 in the last 20. They are home and laying points to a hornets team that played last night. The hornets do play well in B2B games but I got to go with the hot hand here.

UNC +1: Lawson back and UNC is the better team. Duke is ridiculously tough at home, but I like the Tarheels tonight. Duke is overrated.

STAN Pk: The Trees will bounce back after the tough loss at UCLA. USC has Mayo and that's about it. Stanford gets back on track tonight.

UNC +2, revenge and the Duke 3's shouldn't fall for 40 minutes

Xavier -17, coming off of a loss and playing for a 2 or 3 seed, blowout city baby, ptper baby, diaper dandy baby, you get the point.

College of Charleston @ Georgia Southern OVER 150: Both of these teams score, and allow, 70+ points per game. The two previous meetings totalled 160 in regulation, with 26 OT points, and the next game totalled 177 in regulation. They also split the season series, so this game has OT potential as well.

Arizona State -10: Oregon State is absolutely terrible. They have lost 19 straight games. In that stretch, they lost to Arizona State by 19 points. Oregon State has nothing to play for at this point.

#623 Nevada -2.5 : the Wolfpack have dominated this series as of late, i don't see no reason they can't cover this small number.

i gotta think there will be more defense played between these two. i know botg teams have been putting up huge numbers all year but normally a matchup between 2 great teams involves more defense and strategy.

                                          Nevada -2.5 (at Fresno State)
Nevada is by far the better team, especially ATS. Fresno State has underperformed, especially late in the season, and is 0-10 ATS in last 10. They will come out to play in their last home game, but Nevada will have as much or more motivation. Nevada gets a 1 or 2 seed in the WAC with a win, a 3 or 4 seed with a loss. Nevada has had 7 days to prepare, coming off an easy home win (Fresno State: 5 prep days off an away loss).

                                          Utah State -7 (at Idaho)
Utah State gets a number 1 seed in the WAC with a win. Idaho has played their best ball of the season in their last two games, but they run into a buzz saw in this one. They don’t have the defense to stop Utah State’s excellent shooting (51.1 FG%).

                                            596 Providence -1
Providence strong at home; Villanova weak on the road. If they can't shoot the 3s, they might be doomed.

                                            613 Houston U -1½
Big game for Houston. UTEP has been disappointing all season and hope they allow Houston to run and game their way to victory.

Hornets +7.5 Houston's streak has to end sometime. NO is one game away from the Spurs in the Southwest and keep this game close and possibly end the winning streak.

Nuggets +6 Both teams fighting for a playoff spot in the West. Nuggets are still on the outside by 1 game and keep this game close with the playoffs in sight.

Dallas -12. Nets are playing their fourth game in five days, all on the road, and haven't covered in any of them. Like the Mavs here.

Washington -6. Charlotte also playing fourth game in five nights, and struggle on the road. Washington 21-8 ATS when playing teams with losing records.

                                                    Chattanooga 137

These two played two times and didn't score 60 points each time so the under looks good. Elon played last night and I expect the better team in Chattanooga to prevail.

Knicks +3: Portland's a shaky road team, and I could see an upset here. At the very least, it should be close.

Denver +6: I liked Utah at the outset, but I've been on a heck of cold run in this parlay thread despite the fact that I'm consistently winning real money, so I need to change things up. (Now watch Utah go and win by 15 as they usually do at home!)

Utah State was struggling on the road all year before suddenly rising up for the 19-point win at Boise State on Thursday, and we have our doubts about them putting together two good road efforts in a row. Idahi is also 6-2 ATS the lasy six meetings including 3-0 last three.
