#540Augsburg -1
Was some confused when I saw odds in this match. First of all I want to show you two statistics to make you clear how huge the difference is. Of course the statistics are no reason for my bet but I just want to show you how much difference is beetween these two clubs.
Augsburg – 1st rank – (W10-D3-L4) vs. Ingolstadt – 17th rank – (W3-D3-L11)
However, I have to admit that Ingolstadt is not that poor as statistics suggest. Ingolstadt is a rich club with much money and they bought some expensive players in the winter break (Buddle from USA and Wichniarek from Poland) but both won’t be available for today. Ingolstadt had a massive striker problem, they have Hofmann and Hartmann but neither Hofmann nor Hartmann could convince. Therefore they bought Buddle and Wichniarek and I am sure that both are good enough to help Ingolstadt but as I mentioned it above, both will be out for today. Ingolstadt really has potential but the last game showed their problem. They played away in Osnabruck, actually Ingolstadt is the better team and they also played better and took the lead. But then they stopped playing, Osnabruck was running, running and running and Ingolstadt just didn’t fight enough. Ingolstadt lack passion and that’s a massive problem. Also their converting skills are poor, they need many clear-cut chances to score. We well see this lineup:
Kirschstein – Görlitz, Pisot, Matip, Fink – Metzelder, Karl – Buchner, Gerber – Leitl, Hartmann
Ingolstadt’s problems are simple to summarize: They do to many mistakes in the defence, especially Kirschstein is a poor goalkeeper. They have technical skills but converting chances is one of their biggest problems.
In contrary, Augsburg is the most mature team of the league. Rarely it’s the case that they play good without rewarding themselves – IMO they have the best converters of the league although Nando Rafael will be out. But Michael Thurk and Stephan Hain will play and this strike duo actually is the best of the league (next to Cottbus). Thurk who is the best converter of the league with Hain, a young and very, very fast player who will make trouble for Ingolstadt’s defence. Another strength of Augsburg is that they have a very wide squad. For instance today some players will be out but Augsburg has much quality on the bench. Next to Rafael, Bellinghausen (regular) and Baier (unimportant) will be out due to suspension. But de Jong is a good replace for Bellinghausen.
Nevertheless I think that there are better teams in the league than Augsburg. Against good teams of the top of the table, Augsburg had some problems. For instance vs. Hertha they played very poor, against Furth they had problems, vs. Duisburg, too … but in contrast to teams like Furth, Augsburg has no problems with beating small teams. Augsburg is able to play very dominant, especially at home and I am sure they will take the fight out of Ingolstadt.
A strong home side which never has problems against such small teams and the table leader vs. a relegation canidate. Don’t know why price is so huge here, really.Comment -

Bielefeld’s first half of the season has been a complete disaster and their chance to stay in the league is very low. Therefore, Bielefeld’s management showed a reaction. They got much money from local sponsors although the club actually is bankrupt and they spent this money for many new players. But I shaked my head in disbelief when I saw which player they bought. Now I will itemize the players and I will try to explain you why I think that buying these players has been stupid:
. Eke Uzoma:
He was a substitute player at league rival 1860 Munich. He only made one game for 1860 Munich in the first half, therefore I am sure that he will lack experience for today.
. Sandro Kaiser:
It’s the same with him. He also came from 1860 Munich and he was far away from being a regular at 1860. He only played 15 minuts in this season so far, therefore it’s exactly the same with him as it is with Uzoma. I guess that 1860 was happy to find someone who buy these players but I doubt that they will help Bielefeld.
. Romano Denneboom:
Can’t really say much about him because he comes from the Netherlands but he also was only a substitute player at his last club.
. Josip Tadic:
A young Serbian striker who came from the bottom club from the second division in France. There he was only a substitute, too, and I can’t imagine that he has enough quality to help Bielefeld. Of course it’s difficult to judge about someone who one never saw playing but it doesn’t seem as he is a good striker.
. Dario Vidosic:
Came from Bundesliga1 team FC Nurnberg. There he only played a few minuts in this season and I still know him very well because he played for Duisburg last season. I doubt that he will immediately help Bielefeld.
I just want to make you clear that Bielefeld only bought players who didn’t play for a very long period. Also 5 (!) new players will probably start:
Eilhoff - Kaiser, Bollmann, Schuler, Feick- di Gregorio, Uzoma - Denneboom, Heidinger, Vidosic- J. Tadic
Even if these guy like Tadic, Denneboom, etc would be good players, it would be still very difficult for them. Players from so much different countries who will have of course problems with communication and the gist is that the coordination probably will be bad. Anyway I don’t understand Bielefeld’s strategy. For which reason they have more than 40 players in their squad? That’s just non-sense.
However, I ask myself how this scratch team should have a chance against one of the most technical skilled teams of the league. Frankfurt is the big surprise team of the first half of the season. But their success has not been an accident. They master the short passing game nearly perfectly and I think that they are better than other good teams like Dusseldorf and Duisburg, regarding their technical skills. Their only problem is that their defence is indeed solid but not good. Especially against fast strikers, their defence usually has problems. But another point which makes me confident for this pick is that Frankfurt is the best counter attack team of the league, without doubts. Mölders, N’Diaye, Fillinger and so on are perfect counter attackers. Because Bielefeld will be forced to make the running, they will play into Frankfurt’s hands.
The only thing which makes me a bit afraid is the fact that Frankfurt’s best player Wunderlich is still a bit doubtful. But apart from him, Frankfurt will be full-strength. But how should Bielefeld has a chance against Frankfurt? Bielefeld usually failed at home under pressure. Okay, the new team is completely different but I doubt that two weeks build-up were enough to form a good team. Maybe Bielefeld will turn the corner during the next weeks but not against Frankfurt. The conditions for Bielefeld are more than bad for today. Can’t see them winning against a top team of the 2. Bundesliga.Comment -

#558Oberhausen +0,5
This match is David vs. Goliath, a poor city in the coal scuttle vs. a metropolis and so on .. we could continue this list as long as we want. But I think that David will achieve a great suprise tonight.
First of all, Oberhausen are only called the „hard workers“ because their football quality is limited but they are able to compensate it with a massive running ability. However, they completely failed after a good start into this season. Their last performances were more than poor but now many players will be back and the lineup finally will be similiar to the lineup which they used during the beginning of the season:
Pirson – Pappas, Miletic, Schlieter, Hergesell – Reichert, Kruse – Landers, Kaya, Petersch – Lamidi
Oberhausen’s coach Hans-Günter Bruns exactly said how his strategy will be: It’s the game of the year for Oberhausen, his players will fight till they drop and they want to play with a pure defense strategy. Also they want to try to hit Hertha on the break. Of course these words from Bruns didn't suprise me.
Oberhausen has one of the best counter strikers of the league (Moses Lamidi) and he is finally back and I hope he will find back his old form today. In the first leg he btw scored twice against Hertha. Also important defenders Pappas and Kruse will be back to the lineup today.
So Oberhausen's strategy will be to operate with long balls to their very fast players. Petersch, Lamidi and Landers are the fastest players from the whole league and therefore well-suited for counter play. Nevertheless Petersch and Landers have low quality, concerning the soccerish aspect but that won’t be that important tonight due to the pitch conditions.
Therefore Hertha will be asked tonight. Coach Babbel is going to try this lineup:
Aerts – Lell, Neumann, Kaka, Kobiashvili – Niemeyer – Ronny, Raffael, Rukavytsia – Friend, Ramos
First of all, Hertha’s big problem will be the defense tonight. Their regular defenders Hubnik and Mijatovic will be both out because they have been red-carded during the last game in Augsburg. Kaka and Neumann will replace them. Neumann already represented Mijatovic in some games autumnal and he was really poor. Kaka made his last game in 2009 and he is a very, very poor defender. He is a stopgap and he is well-known for doing big mistakes in the defense. Another poor guy is Levan Kobiashvili. His performances during the end of the first half of the season were incredible poor. Week for week he performed bad and he made so many turnovers in each match. I think he has a mindset problem, also he is very slow and that will lead to problems against fast player Landers from Oberhausen.
However, Hertha’s offensive potential is amazing. Intentional I used the word "potential" but not "quality". Because their players only convert their potential to qualiaty at home if they are motivated against a top team but not away vs. poor teams. Regarding the potential, their offensive is nearly two classes stronger than Oberhausen’s one is. However, I see them having big problems today. The South American players Ronny, Raffael and Ramos showed in the first half of the season that they don’t like to play away from home. Especially away from home they performed poor and lethargic. It seems like that they were listless and that they would rather play in the south of Europe. Particularly Ramos has serious problems at the moment. He bumped into a cyclist during the holidays and he nearly killed him, also he recently only was a substitute player for Hertha. Keeping in mind that he is the most expensive player from Bundesliga2, that’s really shocking. It seems that he doesn’t feel well in the Bundesliga2. Nearly the same is true of Raffael and Friend. Their expensive striker Friend said that he feels sidelined and excluded in Berlin, he actually even lost his permanent place to youngster Lasogga. But Babbel said that he will probably get another chance today.
Hertha’s poor away record is not by accident (W3-D2-L3). Away they perform at least one class worse than at home. Among others they lost against relegation candidates Paderborn (1:0) and Osnabrück (2:0). Their problem wasn’t that they were the worse team. They simply didn’t fight and didn’t run. That was the only difference. Hertha’s arrogant away face has cost me personally much money because I always trusted their skills but if you don’t run, you can’t win away.
And do you really think that their South American superstars like Ramos, Raffael, etc will be motivated tonight in Oberhausen? I expect another lethargic and listless away performance by Hertha. But this time they will also have massive problems in the defense. Oberhausen’s defense will be much better today than Hertha’s one will be.
I really don’t see any reason for a -0.75 on Hertha. A team like Duisburg, Augsburg, Furth would get a -0.25 here but Hertha gets a -0.75 due to their name. But I think that a team like Duisburg, Augsburg, etc would have a better chance in Oberhausen. Because Oberhausen will be high motivated against Berlin.
Of course Berlin has much more quality but they have never used their quality away from home and I would be really surprised if they would suddenly use their quality. Oberhausen’s team is a sworn community, Hertha’s team is the exact opposite. Also I read that the pitch conditions in Oberhausen will be poor. Therefore Hertha’s technical high skilled players won’t be available to take advantage of their skills.
I expect a hard and ugly match tonight and Oberhausen will run, run and run. Their running ability will be the key to success tonight. I decided to play +0.5 instead of +0.75 because history proves that Oberhausen often collapses after being behind. Hertha has to show another mindset to take something from Oberhausen but I don’t see any reason why they should suddenly do it right now. Pure value on the home team.Comment -
