Strike Force Challengers 15 series in Stockton California, Friday night the main card is on show time at 11pm.


The main event of this night of fights is Justin "The Silver back" Wilcox (10-3) vs Rodrigo Damm (9-4). This beast of a man Justin Wilcox is only 5'6 and 155 lbs but is giant man for his size and should handle Rodrigo Damm (5'7 155lbs) who is a good veteran of the cage but has problems vs elite competition. The nick name "The Silver back" fits this guy to a tee he looks like a gorilla and is a great wrestler but no matter how many blows of Wheaties he eats still lacks the KO power in his hands to drop Rodrigo Damm in the early rounds. Justin has 5 straight wins and 4 of the 5 are by decision, and the only guy he got in a no decision was David Douglas "Tarzan" in a rear naked choke. Rodrigo Damm is a Jiu Jitsu Alliance product out of San Paulo, Brazil and can hold his own but should be taken to the ground and manhandled by the bigger Wilcox. Plus Rodrigo Damm is coming into the fight a loser of 3 of his last 4 fights. I would think that the lack of power in Wilcox's hands and wrestling ability and size should be a easy victory by decision or submission! The fact that Damm grew up in Brazil and trained with guys who are great off there back i would go with decision for Wilcox.


Lorenzo Larkin (8-0) vs Scott Lighty (6-1)(4ko,1sub,1dec)
(replacing Satoshi Ishii)
This fight should be a interesting bout with both guys having KO power and both fighters like to finish their opponents early in fights. Larkin has only been a pro for a year and half but has a impressive record of 8-0 and has a streak of 4 of last 5 by way of knock outs in the 1st round. Larkin has some quick hands and power in them to, but the short notice in which he took the fight makes his conditioning suspect. Lighty on the other hand has trained with the likes of Chuck Liddell and is ready for this bout! Lighty has a good stand up game and some good power in his hands. The difference in the fight might be Lighty possessing the ability to take it to the ground where Larkin could be vulnerable and bring in it to the later rounds where Larkin has never been before. If Lighty stands and throws hands with Larkin he could get knocked out early and would play to the young guys only game plan with all the power he has in his hands. I like Lighty by decision and think he wants nothing to do with Larkins power and will take him down. (Satoshi Ishii couldn't get out of Japan due to earth quake.)


Caros"The Future"Fodor vs David "Tarzan" Douglas

Alright this fight should be full of excitement with the way David "Tarzan" Douglas brings the heat and resembles a man possessed at times with his aggressive fighting style. David is a Cesar Gracie product and has a great submission game and is great on his feet to with KO power in each of his hands! He grew up with his dad(Danny Douglas black belt in Jiu Jitsu) teaching him and his brother Damian how to fight and respect the sport and they both started training at a very early age. Caros Fodor had a little experience in H.S. wrestling in Washington, but never took it to seriously until he got out of the Army(fought in Iraq). That is when he joined AMC Pankration where he excelled and developed a great ground game that lead to since 2008 five submissions one decision and one lose. Tarzan said, in a article i read on ESPN that "it's like Fodor is on Death row and I'm the electric chair" and he also said he believes he is taking food out of his children's Mouth's and he would die for his family! These few comments have me a believer in this man's mind set and with the weight he packed on his frame is the bigger man if they go to the ground. The break down is this they could go to the ground if they do they are both deadly in submissions but Douglas is bigger and if they stand Tarzan (Douglas) is better there to so Tarzan is the play!

DAMIAN DOUGLAS +180 ml vs WAYNE PHILLIPS -220 ml


This fight should be a competitive fight between these two 170 lbs fighters both having a little experience in the challengers series. Damian is the twin brother of David Douglas(who also fights tonight), and took some time off from the MAA world. Damian is back now since the sport is growing and he can support his family from the winnings. He has fought in the challenger series finishing Joe Schilling off with a rear naked choke in 46 seconds of the 1st round in 9/26/2008. He also grew up at a early age training with his dad (Danny Douglas) a black belt in jui jitsu and is now training with Cearser Gracie and his twin brother David. Tonight marks his 1st fight since 2008 for Douglas and he is matched up vs a good fighter in Wayne Phillips. Phillips is coming off a couple of wins all in strike force and one in the challengers series on by arm bar vs a good fighter in Eric Lawson (9-4) and the more recent a split decision win over Fernado Bettega (6-5). He is a product of American Kick Boxing Academy but before these two wins he lost 3 straight to good fighters all by(unanimous) decision. This fight should be a good battle between two guys that can take a punch and go the distance. Phillips has faced the better competition then Douglas has, but Douglas has the better stand up game and both have a good submission game specializing in rear naked chokes and arm bars. Damian is better of the two with his hands but i don't see Phillips getting knocked out here since all his loses have come by way of decision.
MMA bettors: I think that this going to be a good fight that goes the distance and i like the upset here in a decision with Douglas at +180 taking it.






Welterweights
Josh Thornburg vs. James Terry 165 lbs

Josh Thronburg comes into tonight with less then a week to prepare for this match and is replacing Conor Heun who was injured. Now Thornburg is from Stockton Cali, where tonight's fight is and he will have the crowd on his side tonight. This should help to motivate him and the fact that he fought less then a month ago should mean he is in good shape already. This kid has a great guard from his back, and loves to pull submissions out of now where! Thornburg has done this when he got his bell rung in fights vs (Marcus Gaines and Lee Taylor),both submissions resulting in wins. Now James Terry is a product of Chung Lee( former middle weight champ) and has a great stand up game and KO power in his hands. James terry is coming off two wins and a lose in the challengers series to Tarec Saffiedine by Decision(Unanimous) at Strike force - Challengers 6 where he showed a lot of heart in the fight despite the loss. Tonight with the home crowds motivation behind him and Stockton being where he grew up makes Josh a live dog+190 and will push him to finish the fight no matter what shape he is in!! James Terry's hands and technical striking will prove to much as he wins by a close decision. MMA fans if your looking for a live dog at+190 Josh at home could be your man but i still parleyed Terry at -250 with the Justin "Sliver back" Wilcox
