Kobe has torn ligament in his right finger
Surgery would require Kobe to miss 6-8 weeks. Bryant said he will skip surgery and play through the injury. As expected, Kobe has withdrawn from this weekends All-Star game in New Orleans.

So much for being the so called front runners. This is a key injury on his shooting hand. Pau Gasol better step it up even more now.

That really hinders their championship hope...sort of a good thing they have someone like Gasol that can pick up a little bit of slack.

Kobe Bryant will either have to play in Sunday's All-Star Game or face a one-game suspension, despite having a serious finger injury that was revealed on Thursday.

According to NBA policy, any selectee who plays in his team's last game -- Bryant scored 29 in Wednesday's win in Minnesota -- has to play in the All-Star game or sit out his team's next game. Even though his pinkie injury was diagnosed as a ligament tear after Wednesday's game, Bryant is expected to play. He'll likely start and then sit out the rest of the game, but there's also a chance he could skip it altogether with the Lakers set to meet the lowly Hawks in their first game after the break.
