Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Wednesday, 2/13/08
Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Friday (Feb 1) we will commence with the February Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

    1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

    3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

    6. And here’s the fine print:
    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per household and IP address.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.
    • Residents outside the Continental US may be awarded the cash value prize instead of the monitor.

      Gotta leave early today...

Suns/GS Under 232.5: Even though neither of these 2 teams play D, they gotta score 59 per QUARTER to cover...

Cleveland +2.5 vs Spurs: Loved the way Clev played the Magic at Orl, hopefully they continue it tonight...

It's ok you could tell I was getting hot, and you know that even though I'm at 3-8 right now, I'm still the biggest threat currently to win this whole thing, I understand.

                    Drake +3.5 (at So. Ill.)
I know it's hard to win at So. Ill., but this Drake team is on a mission. They shoot better, they defend better, and they win better.

                    Maryland +11.5 (at Duke)
Maryland plays Duke tough at Duke. Maryland has shot over 50% in five games in a row, and in those games has held opponents down under 48%. They have been taking care of the ball, and, in their last game outrebounded NC State 36 to26. On Saturday, Duke looked vulnerable against BC (a team Maryland beat last week in Boston), and did not even come close to covering the 18 point spread. I say Maryland keeps this close.

Georgia State -2, Delaware is a long way from home, I know they did not come all the way down to the southern tip to play one game, this is either one of many a long way from home or team suicide

Maryland +11.5, Gary Williams loves being overlooked by the national media, plus MD played Duke recently and it was a 3 point game in the last minute before blowing the cover of 6. So depressing.

Drake +3.5: This team is undefeated in the Missouri Valley conference, and their opponent, Southern Illinois, is 7-6 in the MV conference. Drake also beat them 61-51 in the first meeting.

Kansas State -2.5: Texas Tech hasn't proven themselves yet this year. And this Kansas State team has talent with Beasley, not to mention they are ranked 18th.

With all the talent the Nets have It's hard to believe they are so bad. With their lackluster play combined with Toronto,s defense 95.2 pts a game,I expect this game to go under.

There's no reason to even go into stats or anything to prove that it will go over. When these two play you could set the O/U at 500,and it wouldn't be safe. Both teams are all defense
                                  and no defense.

Let's go with the Suns and Warriors under 232.5 and Jazz by 6.

The 232.5 is a shit load of points for anyone and the Jazz have been good to me in the past.

Normally, I'd be all over Dallas after two straight losses. But the reported Jason Kidd deal changes everything. Do the Mavs have any players left for tonight?!?

It is not a sure thing that UAB scores 70 points here, as Rice figures to play some stall ball to give themselves a chance at the win.

SMU +3.5: Marshall is 1-7 SU on the road with the lone win coming at the least efficient team in the country (Rice). I simply do not trust the Herd as road favorites. SMU has managed to go 4-1 ATS in their lined home games this season.
