    Josh Howard

Josh Howard (lower back contusion) did not participate in the Mavericks shoot-around and has been ruled out for Wednesday's game.

Howard will probably be a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Suns, but there's a good chance the Mavs will opt to rest him through the All-Star break. Feb. 13 - 12:43 pm et

    Ben Gordon

Ben Gordon had an MRI on his sprained wrist on Monday and is not expected back before the All-Star break.

''It's definitely getting better, but it's one of those bad sprains that takes awhile to heal,'' Gordon said. ''I'll probably come back after the [All-Star] break.'' The possibility of aggravating the injury is very real--it is his shooting wrist that's affected--so don't be shocked if he doesn't play in the first few games after the break, either. Stay tuned. Josh Childress

Josh Childress flew to Atlanta Wednesday morning to have an MRI exam on his right knee and will likely miss Wednesday night's game in Charlotte.

Childress hyper-extended his knee late in Tuesday's game. He didn't sound too worried and it appears this is little more than a precaution, but he should still be benched in daily leagues. Feb. 13 - 12:01 pm et

        Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace has left the Bulls temporarily on Wednesday because of a death in his family.

He won't play Thursday against the Heat. Thabo Sefolosha skipped today's practice with a groin injury, but should play tomorrow, while Kirk Hinrich will likely come off the bench again as he returns from his rib injury, allowing Chris Duhon one more start. Feb. 13 - 2:49 pm et

          Erick Dampier

Erick Dampier is expected to play through a sprained ankle on Wednesday when the Mavericks will have just eight players in uniform due to the pending trade for Jason Kidd.

Dampier is going to be the only center left in Dallas with DeSagana Diop heading to New Jersey, and should see a nice boost in value with the arrival Kidd. Think about grabbing him if you need a center. Feb. 13 - 6:50 pm et

          Charlie Villanueva and Andrew Bogut

Charlie Villanueva is planning on sitting out Wednesday's game to rest his sore ankle, while Andrew Bogut is still hoping to play after aggravating his hip injury in Tuesday's practice.

Villanueva was wearing a walking boot on his right foot at Tuesday's practice, saying he will try to return by Feb. 20 when the Bucks play their first game after the All-Star break. Bogut is hurting, but is going to try to play tomorrow. "I'll ice tonight and do some more stim tonight," Bogut said. "There's never a great time for an injury, but if you have one, it's good to have it at all-star (break) and have four good days of rest." Feb. 12 - 4:26 pm et

          Caron Butler

Caron Butler didn't participate in Wednesday's shootaround and it's unlikely that he'll play against the Clippers tonight due to his lingering hip injury.

It's also very unlikely that he'll play in the All-Star Game, so be on the lookout for a replacement to be named soon. Antonio Daniels did make it through shootaround and is likely to play tonight after missing a couple games with an ankle injury. Feb. 13 - 5:50 pm et
