WRITE UP FOR ATLANTA HAWKS VS LA CLIPPERS TODAY ( 02/01/2011)

The New Year bash is over now and the teams look to get back to business today with the Atlanta hawks ( 21-14) making a trip down to Los Angeles to take on the LA Clipper( 10-23) today.The Hawks have been a pale shadow of themselves on the road having lost 7 out of the 9 games played and have struggled on the offensive end of these games as well.The clippers,on the other hand have been solid on the defensive end so far,so breaking out of that slump will not be easy for the hawks.

Atlanta coach Larry drew has been particularly upset with the way the hawks have struggled on the road and the statistics more than just back up that statement.The hawks are ( 9-9) on the road this season and have not scored a 100 points in any of the last 11 games played on the road.The clippers on the other hand are ( 7-12) at home but have been playing some good basketball off late.Even though "Defense" is not something that one would associate with the clippers,they have been doing rather well on that front since a month now holding opponents to an average of 95 PPG in the last 12 games while splitting them.

One of the bight spots for the Clippers has been the performance of " Blake Griffin".Having been sidelined with injury most of the time last season,The 6,10 Forward from Oklahoma Sonners has turned it on just when it mattered most. Nicknamed " Blake the Great",his dynamics on court have more than justified that.He is averaging 21.5 PPG alongside 12.4 Rebounds & 3.2 Assists per game besides racking up the double-doubles with relative ease in almost every game.

The Clippers are playing together as a team but will need more than just griffin to topple the hawks here.As much as the recent struggles of the hawks suggest,they have been pretty dominant against the clippers sweeping them in the last two season's two game series as well as winning the previous 6 out of the 8 meetings between the two sides.Joe Johnson & AL Horford have played a very important part in that.Johnson who is averaging 17.2 PPG this season averaged 26 Points against clippers in 2009-10 whereas AL Horford who is averaging 16.7 PPG this season,averaged 23.5 points last season.

The Hawks may have a point to prove here and will come prepared and willing to fight,even though This will not change everything for them on how the season fares but a win here will surely help in building back that lost Credibility on the road.
