Do you guys not understand the concept of cap space? This is a great trade for Memphis. Kwame's deal's up at the end of the year, leaving the Grizz as one of the major players in this season's free agent pool, which could includes Brand, Arenas and Calderon, among others. They weren't going anywhere with Gasol, who was making 14 mil/per and clearly unhappy in Memphis. Also, Crittendon will be a very good player.

You obviously can't argue with the trade from the Lakers' perspective.

i agree with you rjt.. this is a good trade for both teams.. lakers need someone to help now so they can have a chance in the playoffs and memphis is going nowhere this season might as well look towards the future of the team.

Farmar and Walton will be the first two off the bench. Lakers are incredibly deep, still with Turiaf, Ariza (when he returns) and Radmanovic being significant contributors off the pine.

Gasol won't play tonight... still has to pass a physical, as do the rest of the players in the trade before it's finalized.

A good question indeed. But it's quite obvious to anyone that understands basketball that no matter what Nash does on the offensive end, he is just as large a liability on the defensive end. So I really couldn't begin to tell you how they choose their MVPs.

Also, do you for a second actually believe that Cuban wouldn't trade MVP Nowitzki straight up for Kobe if he could? If you do, then pass that crack pipe on down this way.

I can name you several players that mean as much to their teams as Kobe; I'm only comparing Kobe's achievements after Shaq left. Chris Bosh has played as well as Kobe the last 3 years for his team and I think is a better all around player than Kobe because he is not a ball hog like Kobe is.

Again I'll ask, do you really think any GM in the league would not choose him to start a team with right now? I might consider an argument for Dwight Howard or Al Jefferson due to their age & paucity of true centers, but if you think they would choose any other guard or forward, you're delusional.

Also, extending your argument, I assume that because the Lions never went anywhere with Barry Sanders, that somehow would make him less valuable player?

The only player who may be better than Kobe right now is Lebron. IMHO....Kobe is the best player in the league right now.

Saying Kobe hasn't accomplished anything without Shaq is not really saying much of anything. Shaq is HOF bound. BB is a team game.

Celtics - PP, KG, Allen
Suns - Nash, Marion, Amare
Spurs - Duncan, Parker, Manu

Let's see what Kobe does now with Gasol and Bynum (when he gets back.)

Dude, I'm not saying Kobe is not a good player. I just said I can't say it's the best player since he parted with Shaq or before he was a teamate of Gasol. For the last 3 or 4 years he hasn't accomplish anything for his team or personally because the Lakers haven't won anything and he wasn't the MVP. Lebron James achieved more the last 3 years than Kobe and he didn't have a Shaq type guy playing with him or a HOF coach!

I hear what you're saying but keep in mind that Phil Jackson isn't playing the games.

I don't know why people continue to say that Lebron does not have talent on his team. I think that the King James had better talent playing with him prior to this season than Kobe did. Big Z is a much better player than Kwame Brown, Larry Hughes can light it up on any given night, Donyell Marshall is a solid veteran player, Daniel Gibson and Eric Snow are solid at the point and Verajeo is a high energy rebound machine.

Yeah the Lakers haven't done much since Shaq left but who did Kobe have playing with him? Other than Odom the rest of the Lakers roster was weak at best.
