Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest - Saturday, 1/26/08

Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Wednesday (Jan 2) we will commence with a Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 12:30 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  
• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

I think this is a great game for Memphis to make a statement. They are playing a well known team for the first time that they have been ranked #1. A lot of the media and fans think Kansas should be #1. Memphis will be out to prove to the country they deserve #1. Gonzaga is traveling from the west, so this will be an early game time for them. I have Memphis winning by 17.

Kansas over Nebraska
Kansas wants to be #1. They have to keep playing at a high level. I see a 30 point victory over Nebraska.

Analysis: I don’t care if it is being played in Utah, TCU is playing very good basketball right now and they have a 3-1 conference record. Utah? Well they only have one win in the conference and that certainly doesn’t suggest that they can beat anybody in the conference, let alone blow out a team like TCU. Take TCU and the points.

LSU +4.5: Arkansas has lost two straight to a couple of suspect opponents, they have played just three true road games all season going 1-2 and they have covered just once in the last 10 games (vs. a weak LA Monroe team). LSU may not be much, but they are definitely better than Monore and at least they are 6-3 SU at home.

SANTA CLARA +5: San Diego has not done a good job of protecting their home court, going just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games in their own building. Santa Clara is a very resepctable 5-5 SU on the road, and the Broncos swept both meetings with the Toreros last season, including a big 14-point win here in SD.

Philly is terrible, the Bobcats should take them down in front of their home peeps. As well, Charlotte ruined my parlay bet the other day and I was impressed with how well they played so I'm looking for them to play just as well and take this one.

Two good teams, I'm guessing they both come out strong... I look for a big scoring first half, and hopefully it stays close so they'll continue scoring into the second half... If one of the teams pull away I don't think it'll go over, but I have my faith as both teams want to win this one.

Towson State -1 - JMU is good but I think they're getting a little too much credit here. It's tough to win on the road, and Towson has it in them to beat JMU at home more often than not IMO.

Northern Colorado PK - Before their last two respective games, N Col was playing quite well, and Montana less so. I think things are likely to return more to that form here, and N Col should be able to pull out a win.

I think that the last team these two met LAC pulled a win out of the crapper whcih they should repeat 2 nite and this should be an under since both team together averge 193 and the last time they met it was a total of 189 let just hope that this crap fest does not continue into the sewer for overtime then my bet will be in the crapper with these two teams
