NBA: Miami Heat fans aren't all bandwagon jumpers
Enough already. There were Miami Heat fans prior to Lebron James and Chris Bosh teaming up with Dwayne Wade. We all didn't jump on the bandwagon. If I am being honest, I don't care for how LeBron James carried on during the off-season albeit he ended up at our team. It was ordinary and I don't blame NBA fans for insta-hating King James and our team. I would if the shoe was on the other foot though it ain't, and I am looking forward to the season.

Let's recap. I joined the Miami Heat in 1995. I was at the time a so-so NBA fan here in Australia. I appreciated the sport, the super stars like Michael Jordan, David Robinson, Karl Malone etc. though I wasn't what you'd call a passionate basketball fan.

I started taking moderate interest in 1992. The Dream Team was MASSIVE here and they sparked my interest outside the big names in the sport. This big dude named Shaq was all over the news (big considering Australia wasn't exactly embracing the NBA outside of MJ, Magic, Drexler, Bird etc.) as well a guy who'd later become my favourite player of All-Time, Alonzo Mourning.

No need to explain yourself, there were fans before the trio teamed up and that's cool. While there maybe a fair share of "bandwagon jumpers" its that way with every team.... However, even if you were a bandwagon jumper that wouldn't make you a bad person. What a lot of people don't understand is that many Lebron fans will go wherever Lebron goes. Same with Kobe, Wade, Melo, Durant, etc... and all of their fans.. Teams don't make the league popular and exciting, the players do..

For a casual fan, that is. For a lot of fans that watch a lot of NBA games we prefer team > player excitement.

I hate the idea and I hate the heat and of course will still be excited to see them play. It will be good for the NBA in a short term scale. Pretty much just like the Decision. Good for Lebron for a night. Hard to think of someone who can truly resist not watching it. Anyone who doesn't watch it is only doing it in spite.

The Heat needs to win. In order for it to pay off for the NBA, the Heat needs to win championships. Everybody loves a team they can hate. Right now it's the Lakers because they win. People hate the Heat also, but its more on what they are expected to do, not anything they have done...

I can't believe that this team even has bandwagon jumpers. The new three all seem so arrogant. Who would want to root for a bunch of stuck up millionaires?

I second this except Zo was my favorite player of all time when he joined the heat.

I guess that I don't see what was so ridiculous and dumb about that statement either.

Would half the people who hate the Heat really hate them if Lebron and Bosh weren't there. How many people (outside of L.A.) would be Laker fans if Kobe weren't on the team? And if Bradyd's statement wasn't true on some level then why aren't there a lot more Bucks fans? Because they don't have any big time star players that's why. Better yet why are there more and more O.K.C. fans popping up. Not because of team's exciting uniforms but because of it's players (namely Durant).
