Gambling streak possible?

Hey Guys,

Do you think you could pick say 40 straight NBA games over the season? no matter what the odds of the teams you were picking??

Yes it's possible if you allow live betting and willing to take odds at 1.01... But I doubt anyone can pick 40 straight winners.. You'd need to be extremely lucky...

Ok well my plan is to start with a 3k bank roll....if i can pick around 30-to 40 straight wnners at odds between 1.10 and 1.20 ill be making around 500k!...im gonna try it....ill be posting my picks here!!!..Wish me luck...ill need all the info i can get on games so ill be here looking for advice!!! Hope i can get some followers!!!..Thanks!!

No way man, that would be impossible. Even if you took a bunch of -600 or larger favorites it wouldnt work. You could probably do a 10 game streak though.

^ I suggest you use betfair and do in-play and figure out whether to back/lay teams etc..

Last season i picked 23 games straight by sticking to my rule and assesing each game and i started with $500...did pretty well. I think it can be done and im going to start with a higher bankroll this time...I have been following the NBA for about 15 years....

This is true...I didnt pick my 23rd game until Mid - January so def will be taking my time and not rushing...

Have you checked the betting tools section of this site? Using the streak calculator (intended, I think, for predicting losing streaks, but it can be used for this too) with odds at 1.1, unless i've made some serious error, you have a 2.2% chance of a 40 game win streak over 40 selections. In other words, there is a 97.7% chance that one of your forty 90.9% favorites will lose, and you all your money. Even if you bet at 1.01 odds (you wouldn't come near 500k), there is still a 32.8% chance of failure.

I dont look into the those calculators and predictor things..i just go off the players, matchups, injuries, trends, my knowledge etc and go from there and take it one day at a time....

Sure it's possible. However it's unlikely because people tend to get overconfident, and start picking plays just for the hell of it... It would take an exteme amount of patience, hard work, and yes even some luck...

The biggest problem with that whole idea is when you get to the 20th or 30th bet and you still have to deal with the fear of losing 150k+ another 10 or 15 times to achieve your half million goal.

Setting something more achievable, and manageable mind wise, could be 'fun' though.

Split your 3k into 6 x $500 starting banks, then aim to turn each one into $1500, which would take 6 or 7 straight winners at around -500 ($1.20).

That gives you 6 chances to do it, and you only need to make it 2 out of 6 attempts to break even.

Or you could take the 6th $500 and use it as your all-in streak bet. By the time you hit that 30 times in a row your bet size would be ~100k. Are you really up for that much risk anyway?

And if you were up for it, and can pull off a 36 game streak at average -500 you would still end up with 300k.

I think it's possible but still highly difficult. I did hit 19 out of 20 at one point this year and I was picking games that were between -110 and -120.

there's probably more value in taking college games with the same idea. but good luck, i think you can do it if you're selective, which it sounds like you are when you've done this in the past.
