Durant is not even close to the top 3 players in the world. He will never be in the top 3 until Kobe retires. He is still just an average defender. Top 3 players in the world all great defenders and great offensive players.

You can put him at 4 in the world if you'd like, but there is such a HUGE separation between Wade and Durant, it's not even worth discussing.

Durant also needs time. Still young, hasn't hit big shots when needed.

I think people are once again overracting by the highlights they see on TV. Kevin Durant would not be the number 1 pick. Lebron James would...hands down... Durant is good but he has a ways to go. A really good argument could be made that he would be in the top 5 best players in the league. I won't even argue with that, but Lebron, Wade, and Kobe are all ahead of him right now. The only player I see him passing soon would be Kobe because of his age and the fact that he is not doing a better job of taking care of his body.. Wade would be next, but it would take a few years because Wade is entering his prime.
Durant is a beast, but some of you guys are going a little too far...

            1.) LeBron
            2.) Dwight
            3.) Durant.

LeBron IMO best player in the league. I'd take Dwight next because aside from D12, Bogut and a select few others, a star center is tough to find. Durant is third on my list, but its a very narrow margin. However if I was gauranteed a good starting center, I would re-consider Durant as the 2nd most viable option.

He would also be my +1 pick
Durant or Lebron... it's close. but I would pick Durant

I've never seen a guy with this height having so much weapons in the offense

right now as in if Kobe was in the draft at 30 years old, wade was 28, durant 21, lebron 25, etc?

i guess it depends gold if your ready to win now or you don't mind building a team that could be successful for many years in the future. If your trying to win a ring this year only you have to go with Kobe number 1 and then Wade number 2.

If you are building a team that you want to be competitive for at least 10 more years, you got to go with Durant number1.

I agree with you. Scoring is important, but games are won from the extra possesions gained through securing loose rebounds, and Howard has over the last several years proven to be one of the best. Lebron, while lacking the killer (selfish) instinct of Kobe, has enough natural ability to be dominant force at both ends playing PG, SG, SF, and/or PF. As small as the gap may be between the three, for Durant to truly leap the other two he would need to start rebounding at the same rate he did in college (unlikely), turn into a lock down defender (unlikely), or post higher scoring numbers (40 ppg) or a %-line of 55-45-90 in consecutive years (if he demanded the ball more he could get 40ppg, but at the expense of wins?)

Durant reminds me of a retro McGrady.. That's def. not a bad thing. Let's just hope he has more success than T-Mac ever did..

the unofficial gm rankings not including age, height, blood type, life expectancy or length of pinkie coke nail for quick hitters has them taking len bias in a mock draft #1

marketability wise you absolutley without a doubt have to take lebron over anyone, the gm that would draft durant over lebron would likely be fired on the spot just for that reason
