Shaq to the Celtics?

[brandon m]

Looks like Boston is gonna give Big Aristotle a shot. I like the move. Makes Boston the biggest team in the game probably.

[nbarlotta3]

The Lakers are still much bigger but this definitely upgrades them at the Center position.

[Congruency]

losing perkins is really gonna hurt

if hes not back to the same player i think you have to say that boston got worse for next season

but this is the way to beat miami...load up on bigs, and have rondo take care of whoever PG miami will start

[NardVa]

The Big Shamrock in Beantown. I like the move. Shaq at his age playing for a qtr or two can do damage.

[DeluxeLiner]

Because of injuries, it is possible that at the end of the season they could have an all D-league team on the floor or a title contender

[kobefanatic]

hope it happens so that beating boston will be a lot sweeter for KOBE

[kobefanatic]

1 more ring than shaq

[Defuzas]

Celtics became kind of team of pensioniers.. I would like that few young players would come to Celtics.

[refrain87]

I agree, I don't see shaq being a huge part of their team... celts need more younger players, shaq is done.

[brandon m]

Celtics know there window is done after this year probably. Rivers is leaving. KG is getting older and older, same with Allen and Pierce. They win it now or they probably won't be legitimate contenders again for a few years.

[branrave]

Not bad.

i think 2 more years

[Duby]

Celtics = Old

They will not go far in the playoffs this year

[velina]

i thin Shaq is a good upgrade to the celtics..

[hels]

Having him on your roster for the veteran min of 1.4 mil is a great bargain. He could be an essential role player to be used in certain situations that would pick teams apart.

[nikeboyz]

I will be surprised if the Celtics make it threw the regular season
Did you all forget what happen last season regular?
They cant do that again since the east has gotten better

[Diesel79]

I like it..... if they somehow could convince Sheed to come back for one more year....

[Snowball]

it's a done deal

According to A. Sherrod Blakely and a number of other sources, Shaquille O'Neal will sign with the Boston Celtics for the league minimum for a chance to win title number 5 and possibly face the Lakers and Kobe Bryant in the Finals.

From A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE:

Shaquille O'Neal has agreed to become a Boston Celtic, which would give the C's one of the most star-studded, Hall of Fame-bound lineups in recent memory.

Although O'Neal has said he wants to play at least two more seasons, his contract will be a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum.

For me, that is a real surprise. Not the signing (though that is a bit of a shock), but that Shaq is accepting the league minimum to play… anywhere.

A huge player with a huge ego has come to grips with reality and age. As the saying goes, he ain’t what he used to be.

But for a perennial league star and one of the world’s most visible athletes, make that 'most visible personalities' (TV shows, movies, cds, etc.) to go from $20 million to something slightly over $1 million per year says something about Shaq's desire to play with a contender, instead of just fading away - 'graciously' - as he puts it himself.

And 'gracious' certainly isn't the way Shaqzilla plays. His elbows are lethal weapons.

[Baller85]

I don't think Shaq will have too much of an impact on the Celtics.

[HustleGetPaid]

Celtics getting older. Heat, Bulls, and Magic are the top teams in the East.

[Sharkl11]

shaq is a curse now.

[brandon m]

Signed for the minimum. Didn't see that coming from Shaq. Figured he would just assum retire rather than play for the minimum.

[WillC]

The East is going to be great to watch this year

[pyro]

If he can be healthy in the playoffs, he might be of some use. East will def be fun.

[kobefanatic]

sweet deal now kobe has reasons to hate the celtics even more, if ever celtics advance to the NBA finals, it would give kobe more determination to beat the celtics especially SHAQ

[kobefanatic]

soon kobe will be 2 more rings than shaq

[Ratzz]

why would anybody sign shaq?!.... he's so slow now...
a fast opposing offense creates a 4-on-5
for the first 5-7 seconds of a new possession...
(like a power-play in hockey)

phoenix tried him.. cleveland.. it doesn't work...
sure he gets 10 and 10 per game.. but at the cost of a fast offense that can pile on a lead..
no chance for a runaway win with him on the floor

pity he won't shoot underhanded Free-Throws like Barry

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdE-RCpLBcM

keep in mind that the larger your hands are.. the harder the shot is..
Price and Nash are smaller men..

Barry was 6'7" (large hands)

underhanded most reliable (smaller margin of error)
due to only single joint movement (shoulder joint)
