Raptors say that bosh quit on them
    Jul 27, 2010 7:49 AM EST
Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo had some pointed comments to make about Chris Bosh during an interview with Toronto's FAN 590 on Monday.

Bosh left for the Heat in free agency, although the Raptors were able to work a sign-and-trade for some long-term assets.

"We tried in vain to put pieces around Chris. Different pieces, different styles. It didn't work out," Colangelo said of building a roster around his former cornerstone.

"No matter what type of player we brought in, it didn't seem to have the right mix with him as that centerpiece."

Colangelo also hinted that Bosh checked out on the team near the end of the 2009-10 season, knowing his career in Toronto was likely over.

"Despite limited swelling and any excessive damage on an MRI, he felt like he needed to sit for six more games ... I'm not even questioning Chris' injury. I'm telling you he was cleared to play subject to tolerance on his part, and the tolerance just apparently wasn't there and he chose not to play," Colangelo continued.

"The fact that our season was spiraling downward and we were hoping he'd come back sooner and we were also dealing with a few other things at that point ... we were really struggling there."

    Colangelo didn't stop there.

"Whether he was mentally checked out or just wasn't quite into it down the stretch, he wasn't the same guy. I think everybody saw that, but no one wanted to acknowledge it," he continued.

"At the same time, I never felt we were quite in the game (in terms of signing Bosh to a new contract). There was too much out there, too much built up for him to take an easy out here, and he decided to do that."

Lol what pieces did they bring in, Turkuglu? I always felt he was overrated from the start, cant think of any other "quality" they put with Bosh so the Raps efforts were not good really in that department.

It sucks for the raps they got the #1 pick in a very weak draft. a legit super star+bosh in Toronto and who knows maybe it would of worked out for bosh and the raptors

          You're kidding me.

An NBA player in today's game quit on his team? Holy shit, I don't believe it. Today's NBA thug has too much respect to quit on a team while making millions of dollars.

Lol I'm sure Bosh is glad to be outta there. Toronto didn't put anything around him.

Owners crying is becoming a trend to steal the spotlight. That's why there will be lockouts in basketball and football this summer and maybe next season. People wrongfully point the fingers at players, the owners and Stern are way out of line in a lot of instances

Now that the whole LeBron fiasco has worn off, others are starting to get bashed. CP3 took some criticism for talking about wanting to go to NY or Orlando to form another super team, and now Bosh is getting criticism for quitting.

I like how so many support Bosh here. Makes me laugh. The guy is soft as jelly. Rupaul never played 5 minutes of defence in all his years here. Did he quit? Maybe , maybe not. The bottomline is that the people that payed him questioned his desire. Any MAN with pride doesnt allow that to be questioned in his chosen career path.

Of course he has to quit on days that the public are on toronto. Vegas has bills to pay.

i think its better for the raps that bosh is gone

hes a top 15 player in the league and you usually dont get better by trading away those types of guys, but it frees up a lot of room for colangelo to properly build the team with options

a bosh/bargnani frontcourt is too soft to compete defensively and BC has a mancrush on bargnani so CB had to leave
