Why do players take pay cuts?

Players still get payed when injured until there contract is up.

How would you judge a person intelligence on there NBA carreer choice when in the NBA a lot of factors may effect there decisions. Think about it, your a player in your prime, you have all the money you can spend and and 2 MVP trophies. Would you stay on a team for few few million more or would you play for a team that has a shot at an NBA title?
