Sounds like many have tried helping him find jobs but he doesn't let them help. He signed a multi-year 1.5 mil contract in 1981. I don't care who you are but you gotta be able to manage your money better than that. It's a shame but its not anyone's fault but his own to be in his situation.

no sympathy for someone who has been paid in the millions at one time in their life and blew it. You got a chance most people never get.

He gets no sympathy from me................. Dumb$ass. If this ever happens to me I would expect you all to be laughing at me too!!! Of course that would involve me winning the lottery or an act of God, but anything is possible.

Last I heard, around 70% of all professional sports players end up broke before it is all said and done.

FTA: "Unlike many troubled ex-players, he has never fallen prey to drugs, alcohol, or gambling."

I would have seen a better to reason to help him if he was addicted to something as appose to just not being able to hold down a job and mismanaging the millions of dollars he made.

johnson didnt make a lot of money.... he made a total of 2 million over 10 years...after taxes...agent...etc... not hard to imagine how anyone could have went thru 1 million in 20 years.

what the article fails to mention is his nba pension.... he played 10 years....so he should be receiving 3k a month... why is he homeless when he is receiving that check every month
