almost as bad as the TWolves giving Darko 20 mil over 4 years. Don't know what some of these teams are thinking, they're never gonna win anything.

I guess they think the fan base will not like letting their best player walk for nothing. But this was a case where one step back could very easily become 2 steps forward. I guess GM's don't learn from other GM's mistakes.

Exactly! I shake my head at the moves organizations make.. In the end that's why the Hawks are the Hawks and the Wolves are the Wolves.

Hell Darko 20 ovr 4 is probably stupider than Johnson getting a max contract. At least Johnson will be an impact player for the Hawks......IN THE REGULAR SEASON!!!

No big star wants to come and live in Atlanta. We can't lure the Lebrons, the Wades and the Kobes of the world so then next option is to retain the only star we have that doesn't mind living in Atlanta.

I dont understand why its like that, Atlanta seems like an awesome city, and especially for athletes, they got magic city! With such a large population too youd think there would be fan support for at least one of those sport teams!

I think the problem is endorsements. We can pay Kobe and Lebron $20 million a year salary. But they won't get the big endorsements from Nike, Adidas etc if they play for a small market team. Where a player plays has to do a lot with what the sponsors who pay the endorsements want them to play. NBA is run like a business and not like a sports club.

                                    They are poorly coached

Joe Johnson is very difficult to guard

The problem was too many ball hogs and he could not get his hands on the ball enough

Ya the darko deal is WAY more pathetic. For the hawks Joe was the only one they had a chance with.

JJ has had the worst supporting cast ever. How do you expect a guy like Johnson to carry a team all by himself. Josh Smith is a joke. If ATL don't sign anyone besides Johnson they are in for another failure season. Though people don't understand that JJ was being triple teamed at times in the playoffs because he's ATL's only real threat. The only game plan you need to know to beat Atlanta is stop Joe Johnson. If you can stop him ATL has no shot with that current squad.

Atlanta had the worst run offense in the league...Not a lot Joe could have done to help them.
