Could be a move so that he can a long term deal before labor strike next year, dont think anyone will give him one that pays him the money he is accustomed to but he wants to take a gamble with it.

This will leave the Celts with just 4 players signed ( Davis, KG, Rondo and Perkins) and also leave them about 22-25M under the cap.

Danny Ainge is known to be aggresive..... i know pierce is a boston legend but he's on the wrong side of 30 and will be an liability to a franchise in his later years with a 16-20 million cap hit.

Yup, I don't think i would resign him either unless he take a big paycut (which i think this opt out idea was bad for him, 21.5mil next year was alot of money). His body seem like it's breaking down on him. Running around like Shaq now. LoL. I would chase after one of the top free agent if i was the Celtics.

as people said, i doubt he's leaving. lebron will not come to the celtics, no way. although i'd love to see rondo and lebron on the same team. except that would be one of the worst ft shooting team in the 4th quarter. i don't trust either at the line

Hawks are the biggest fraud when it comes to being a a good "young" team, but when it comes to betting they go alright.
