i was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until the autotune hit.

he himself is not bad, surprisingly so. the only problem is when he's rapping, disbelief is not suspended at all. with most rappers, your willingness to buy into their persona and not question the truth behind their words is their key to success. with artest, you watch him play every night, so anything he says is up for questioning. like when he likens himself to barry bonds, mike tyson in his prime, and saying he beats the buzzer, the responses to those are (respectively) no you're not, no you're not, and no you don't. and those are just some examples.

still, a much better single than you would expect from a guy who seems to struggle to get out even a coherent sentence in interviews. i appreciate you posting this.

He had a single back in 06 with a video that they used to play on the hip hop shop in Sacramento when he was with the Kings. That was bad. He got his bars up now. Might have a ghostwriter? Still wouldn't cop it though
