Show me Kobe doing this at 38 years old.
You my friend know nothing.
Kobe is better at controlling the clock. Nowhere near as athletic as Jordan.Comment -

#39ProfitbaleEnergy,
Kobe is a much better shooter and 1 on 1 perimeter defender than JOrdan. There are several things Kobe is better at, and several things Jordan is better at.
I don't understand why you are in this discussion. This discussion is reserved for those that have watched both players thoughout their careers. You my friend didn't even know what a travel or double dribble was 2 weeks ago so I find it hard to believe you've watched much from either playerCause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

Kobe isn't 38 yet so I can't. I guarantee when he turns 38 we are gonna talk about him being a top 2 or 3 player of all-time legitimately. And yes...Jordan's crown will be threatened by then. Watch Kobe's rookie year where he went against Jordan in Los Angeles (it's on youtube my friend)....then you tell me Kobe wasn't as athletic as MJ.Comment -

#43Jordan is the best ever. There will never be another like him. He never lost an NBA Finals series, has better stats offensively, has more MVP awards had less talent around him and won his championships at an older age. I hated Jordan when he was still playing, but have to give the man his due diligence.Comment -

It's incomparable. Jordan in his prime would have clowned Kobe.
Kobe can't make that block/steal now kid, STFU you sound stupid if you think he'll make it at 38, way passed his prime.
Done with this discussion. Better jump shot, possibly the best jump shot the game has ever seen. That's about all Kobe has on Jordan.Comment -

#47One on one in their primes Kobe vs. Jordan....you're insane to think Kobe couldn't outplay him in a game of 21.
And no one is arguing Jordan right now is the King of basketball. He is a legend of course. But Kobe still has some good years left in him....watch out.Comment -

#48Jordan is obviously the best of all time and the title of the discussion wasn't who is the best, it's if kobe is second best. I'd have to say that he wasn't. Kobe is a fantastic player, definitely in the top 10 of all time, but when you look at the greatest, most dominant players, you have to look at Wilt Chamberlain. The guy not only scored 100 points in a game, but after leading the league in scoring and rebounding forever, he led the league in assists as well just because people said he couldn't pass and he wanted to prove them wrong. He might not have the championships of Jordan or some of the Celtics, but the man is the most dominant player of his era, had all the rules changed because of how he played, and has to be considered number 2 of all time.Comment -

#49Well Jordan played in 6 NBA championships in 12 years....Kobe has played 7 NBA championships in 14 years. And as I said above....he still has 5-6 good years still left.
PS -If Kobe wins game 7 tomorrow....I've got him in the top 6 or 7 of all-time right now. Jordan is #1.

#55Well I grew up watching Jordan and now I watch Kobe. But if you watch highlight reels from both players, the stuff they both do is very similar, amazing jumpers, crazy layups and drives. They look very similar. I think Jordan attacked the basket a little more though. So athletically I think Kobe is just as good. But Jordan has better numbers and awards so...
But for the guys saying Jordan didn't have a supporting cast like Kobe does, your out of your mind. The years Jordan "retired" err got told to leave err got caught betting on basketball and played baseball, that bulls team nearly went to the finals again. That says it all right there. And as for having never lost a finals series, I'd bet my car that if Jordan and his bulls went up against Hakeem and his rockets when the rockets went back 2 back, the bulls would have lost at least one if not both those years.
But none of that really matters, Jordan was yesteryear and he was great but you know what? Its all about Kobe right now and has been for the most part of the last 11 years. BTW Kobe is about to put on his 5th ring and second finals MVP.Comment -

#57Jordan coming off a three peat and only peaking was going to lose against the Rockets, with a washed out Clyde Drexler and Hakeem already past his prime. MJ probably would had another 35 point half finals again, against that team.

#59We'll never really know who would have won, but I would take Houston in that matchup.
But Hakeem past his prime in 1994?
So lets see Hakeem won MVP that year, won Defensive player of the year, finals MVP, top 5 in rebounding and blocks. Yeah he must have been past his prime. /sarcasm offComment -

#62You're going to argue the way Jordan scored his points isn't significantly better than the way Kobe did? The way he took it to the paint, the air he got? Get the f*ck real.
Lebron arguably is better. I don't feel he is, as Kobe is the guy you want to be giving the ball to when the shot is needed and the clock is running low. Kobe has a higher basketball IQ, and knows where to put the ball in order to succeed, however Lebron is absolutely more athletic.
Again you're going to tell me the way Jordan scored all those points, rebounds, etc wasn't levels above Kobe?
I'll say it again, Kobe is the best jump shot possibly of all time, and excellent at controlling the clock and putting the ball where it needs to be. Jordan has everything else covered.
You agree, you just try to argue with me.
You will make up some phantom point though now, claiming I asked what it means to dribble the ball or some other sideways claim that holds no weight.
Awaits it...Comment -

#63Kobe is up there... I don't really care to list people in order all I know is MJ is #1.
I respect Kobe. His abilities / skills / mentality / focus & will to continue to win no matter how much success he & his team has.
I can understand as in game 5 when you are out there giving it your all, battling to the very end & everyone else is no where to be found... making mistake after mistake.
I get frustrated as well when playing basketball / beach volleyball / etc when I am out there focused / ready to dominate but also enjoying just being able to play the game. It gets irritating when you play with people who obviously haven't played as much & can't make plays consistently or they don't have the athletic ability to make some plays...you just have to fight to the end when losing & try to help them out by spotting out how they should have played the previous serve/defensive stand/where they should have played the hit/shot etc.
When you have developed natural instincts as to how to play the game & you see things developing before they even happen so you are able to put yourself in the correct position to make a play/save/etc... rotate over to backup somebody... but someone else doesn't realize they have assignments too & fuk it all up when they don't rotate over etc.
This leads to only playing with friends for fun/joining leagues to dominate!!!Comment -
