Today he hasn't said anything to the fact that Boston or LA would win, only said that the NBA needs a blowout. Making assumptions based on this comment would be exactly that, an assumption.

I'm willing to bet this game falls within single digits either way. I don't believe there will be a blowout.

Good philosophy. I would say that if the Lakers win, it will be close, like 2-4 points as you suggest. However, if Boston wins this one could get ugly. LA has already won the opener at Boston, which could mean that if they get down 15+ points, Phil could just pull key starters and let the bench get some quality PT. I have seen him do this before in big games when nothing is going their way. Then he will bitch to the front office and media about the officiating and win the next game.

Either way, I can't lean strong on either team, but I will play Boston First Half just because I can't see them not coming out with intensity to open the game coming off a home loss.

Donaghy is lying in that Deadspin article. He claims that the announcers don't criticize the officials and are shills.

The announcers have ripped the officials for the entire Finals.

If you listen, they rip on them for a bunch of calls each game.

Donaghy chooses to ignore it, I guess.

By the way, this has been the closest game of the playoffs thus far.

Yep. What can you say? He didn't say it was going to happen and he didn't pick a side. Just as his quote says directly, he said it needed to happen to get the heat off of the league.

He said refs wish for a blowout so they don't need to worry about making bad calls to angry either team. But if the game comes down to the wire, refs have to make decisions on some key calls near end which likely go to the "catching up" team so that series can last longer. This is the situation they rather not to be in. Just my guess.

The only thing he keeps saying is that the league needs this game to be a blowout. Someone's trying to read between the lines and has guessed Tim's leaning the Celtics, but Tim hasn't responded. I'm definitely now taking the 10+ points props for either side since I was going to take the 1-10 anyway.

I took a punt that the NBA would smarten up considering all of the heat on them, especially now. To me that theory made sense. It didn't happen and I lost those 2 props but I won my Boston 1-10 and 2 other half plays (LA 1H, 2H under) so I ended up just a bit more than even. All I know for me is that I'd be silly not to give weight to someone who has actually worked in the league rather than armchair bandits who are trying to grind out a living, hitting 60% if they're lucky.

Look, bottom line. He didn't predict anything in this game as he didn't come out and say Boston or LA. HOWEVER, his blueprint clearly was that Boston would win just based on his blue print of every other game in this playoffs (17-2). He did say the NBA needed a blowout, now I would not consider 10 points a blowout in most cases, however for two close teams like this, 10 points is a mile.
