      LAKERS

Bryant had fluid drained from knee: The Los Angeles Times reports Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will play in Monday's Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Suns, but his right knee continues to be a problem. Bryant recently had a significant amount of fluid drained from his swollen right knee and hasn't practiced since the last round. "He came out [Sunday] and shot a little bit and tried to get in rhythm," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We hope that he's on board and his game is right at that point where it needs to be."

Bynum still has knee pain: The Los Angeles Times reports Lakers center Andrew Bynum continues to deal with a right knee injury, but he's expected to play in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Suns. Bynum practiced only once since the conference semifinals ended and said the torn cartilage in his right knee was "getting a little worse" after making it through Saturday's scrimmage. "I thought he played well [Saturday] and we're hopeful that he's going to be at that level," coach Phil Jackson said.

Gasol back at practice: The Orange County Register reports Lakers forward Pau Gasol returned to the practice court Friday after leaving the team's workout Wednesday early because of a sinus infection. Asked if he was healed, Gasol said, "Not really, but I'm better." Gasol is expected to play in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Suns on Monday.

Lakers hope Vujacic can return soon: The Orange County Register reports that Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic, who hasn't played since the regular-season finale, practiced Wednesday. Vujacic severely sprained his left ankle in the season finale against the Clippers, but he looked healthy and lively in the scrimmage. The Lakers are hopeful Vujacic can return against the Suns in the Western Conference finals, which begins Monday.
