Kobe: The Greatest Clutch Performer of All Time?
Has hit huge shots this year/this playoffs. A few playoff buzzer beaters and some big shots in the finals (if they get there) would make kobe the clutchest player of all time IMO.

Right now, there is no discussion that Jordan is 1 and Kobe is 2 on the list.

I might consider larry bird or reggie miller above Kobe in terms of pure clutch, hard comparison to make though. Depends upon if you're talking dominating an entire game, or a one shot to win it scenario, etc. He's def top 5 though without a doubt.

fisher is more clutch than him. A lot time at tight situation he usually have the ball for final but most of the time he can't make it due to defense double team so he turn to fisher for it sometime. that y you hear fisher hitting big shot like game 3 utah

Like the guy above me said, Fisher is more clutch than Kobe, no question. Kobe actually gets worse usually as the game gets into clutch time. But he takes the vast majority of the Lakers shots at the end so of course he is going to get hot every now and then at the end of games.

Neither James nor Kobe could be considered clutch players. A clutch player is a player who increases scoring and scoring % as the game gets into the 4th quarter.

Kobe and James play the same when the game is on the line as they do when its the 1st quarter.

Example of clutch players are Robert Horry, Michael Jordan, Reggie Miller, and Paul Pierce. Pierce has fallen off these playoffs but for a long time he was the best in the NBA, nobody close. I expect him to heat up next game in Boston. He is an assassin.

You do know that Kobe hit like 3 huge shots in the last minute of that game right? And you guys do know that nearly every "clutch" shot Fisher hits is set up by Bryant right? Fisher wouldn't have any breathing space if it weren't for Bryant drawing the D.

Thats not true, I specifically remember a catch-turn-and-shoot shot against the spurs a few years back, and that walkdown 3point pullup last year in the finals, both had nothing to do with Kobe at all. Not saying he's higher than Kobe don't get me wrong, but fisher deserves a lot of credit for the big shots he hit.

I know about that 0.4 second shot- that's why I said "nearly"

Kobe is not more clutch than Jordan, nor is he close enough to MJ that "a few more game winners" would make Kobe the GOAT in the clutch department. I agree with him being #2, though.

Yes, I still believe Jordan is better clutch player as of now. But Kobe will take that title before he retires.

Phoenix Suns head coach Alvin Gentry has a lot of respect for Kobe Bryant and told The Arizona Republic Friday that the Lakers guard is the best closer ever in the NBA.

"He's the best closer in the history of the game if you ask me," Gentry said. "Yeah, that is including Michael Jordan. I just think what he's done this year, to have six game-winning shots that come on the last possession of the game, I don't know if anybody has ever done that.

"If that's the case, we have to try to make somebody else be that closer. That's not to say that he'll give it up. I've seen him make it over three guys, too. But as far as we're concerned, we have to try to get the ball out of his hands some kind of way."

I would agree that Mike is the best closer and Kobe will own that title one day as much as I hate to admit it. I also think as far as strictly buzzer beaters in big games Robert Horry is by far the most clutch but just at the last and final shot he couldn't own the closing minutes down the stretch of a close game like Horry.

Kobe is actually a BAD clutch shooter, at least over the span of his career: http://82games.com/gamewinningshots.htm

I guess many people assume that since he's black, fierce and good at creating his own shot, that he must be a good "clutch" shooter?

"He's the best closer in the history of the game if you ask me," Gentry said. "Yeah, that is including Michael Jordan. I just think what he's done this year, to have six game-winning shots that come on the last possession of the game, I don't know if anybody has ever done that.

"If that's the case, we have to try to make somebody else be that closer. That's not to say that he'll give it up. I've seen him make it over three guys, too. But as far as we're concerned, we have to try to get the ball out of his hands some kind of way."
I'll take what Gentry has to say with a grain of salt. Zen Master's the king of mind games, but young Gentry is probably trying his hand at it here with that comment, "including Michael Jordan".
