Will LeBron and Wade be left off All Def 1st Team?
In a thread a few weeks ago, I said defensive first team this year would be:

    G- Bryant
    G- Wade
    F- Gerald Wallace/Lebron James
    F- Josh Smith
    C- Dwight Howard

Will Wallace get the nod this year over James and will Rondo replace Wade/Bryant? Rondo is not deserving, he's just a steals man, a gambler, he can't lock up any top pg in the league 1 on 1 defense.

Wallace will get it over Lebron, no doubt there. I think Deron Williams deserves it before Rondo if we are talking PGs.

Very few true NBA fans here unfortunately Goat.

Agree or disagree: Williams is the best defensive PG in the league.

Agree, he's really stepped up his D this year. I think Hinrich is in the conversation too.

I thought of Hinrich just after I made that last post, although he's been playing SG this year. Hinrich is definitely up there if you consider him a PG, but Williams really stepped up his D this year. I remember him switching onto Brandon Roy for the second half of a game this year and shutting him down, very impressive.

I put Mo Williams as 3rd in the list of defensive PGs.

Lebron is not 1st team, he just makes highlight center blocks but is vastly overrated defensively, good day

He's a solid 1 on 1 defender; but the best team defender in the NBA, get your facts straight.

I agree here. If anything, Lebron is underrated on defense because the casual NBA fan (read: most people here) only see the highlight chase-downs and instantly say that's all he does defensively. He's definitely the best team defender in the NBA, he tends to roam like a free safety. No player affects more shots from the weakside outside of Dwight Howard. He is also the vocal anchor of the defense, but you don't see that on TV (he was the anchor of Team USA's D too).

His on-ball defense is underrated because of his style of play. He is vastly different than the likes of Kobe or Wade on ball. Those guys get right up into a player's chest and try to force steals. Lebron plays more off his man and uses his athleticism and length to close out on jump shots. If you look at some of the more complex defensive statistics which are still fairly new he is one of the best defenders in the league at keeping his man out of the paint and/or blocking/altering his man's shot if he gets that far.

I still would give the award to Wallace over Lebron because it's a regular season award. Wallace played hard D both on ball and off for 30-40 minutes a game all season. Lebron tended to lock down and be ridiculously good in the fourth, but he coasted early on in games quite often (a la Kobe).

If you were to choose from just playoff performance, Lebron has been an absolute beast defensively so far.

Wade and Lebron both will make the All NBA Defense 1st Team.

fukkin a they leave Wade off, he gets on 2nd defense, but 1st all nba team of course.

look at this list I knew it man.

                        g- Kobe
                        g- Rondo
                        f- Lebron
                        f- Gerald Wallace
                        C- Dwight

How can you put Lebron on that list over Josh Smith if J.S. was 2nd this year in DPOY voting? Does that make sense? Please, someone enlighten me...

Makes no sense to me. Smith over LeBron. Wallace over LeBron. Rondo does not belong there either.

I totally disagree he is not the best at anything on defense, he is solid at best and makes highlight plays to plant seeds in most peoples minds, good day

The NBA gives players calls on and off the floor, the bigger names generally got the calls here, except for Wallace, good day
